Rough Pregnancy and only 7 weeks! Migraine help anyone?

Hi All, I am 37 years old and pregnant with our 4th baby. My youngest is 9 so its been a bit since I have gone through this. I can say WOW. I am really feeling bad this time around. I am only 7 weeks and my anxiety, nausea,  peeing every hour at night, migraines and fatigue have all really hit me hard this go around. I really hope that at the 2nd trimester these things get better because wow.

Anyway, my doc gave me Zofran for nausea. I HAD to take a migraine pill yesterday because it was so bad. My doc said there is limited info and studies but if it is THAT bad that I need to take in the risk vs benefits. Have any of you suffered with migraines and how have you gotten through? Ice packs, dark rooms, sleeping, none of it helps.

The fatigue is horrible, I could sleep 24/7. I work 2 jobs and have 3 kids so its not an option but I am almost dosing in the car at my daughter's lacrosse practice. I am also a fitness instructor so I am always on the go. Its tough!

Any advise? All around and general? Can anyone relate?  Does it get better? Please.... say it does LOL

How are your migraines by now? I used to get them but they have decreased a lot in intensity since I started going to the chiropractor. And chiropractic care is excellent during pregnancy! I do tend to get more regular headaches now. A good neck massage really helps me. Ice and Tylenol don't touch it so my Dr. Okayed ibuprofen occasionally to relieve the stiff neck that comes along with mine.

The good news is that the morning sickness does go away :) I lost 7lbs during first trimester (1st pregnancy) because of the 4 month long and horrible sickness. I am on pregnancy #4 and it's been pretty easy but I started getting the aura migraines (partial vision loss) and had it 3 times this week. I read that it's due to hormonal changes, so I guess I can't do much. When that happens I try to lie down or sit for a while until it goes away. I am 36.

Here's some symptoms advice for pregnancy headaches from the team at MedHelp: http://www.medhelp.org/pregnancy-health/articles/Headaches-During-Pregnancy-Your-Symptoms-Manual/2010

You can also find this in the I'm Expecting app by selecting Headaches as a symptom you're having in the Pregnancy Diary, and then clicking Symptoms Manual in the menu. It should show up!

Hi I'm 39 and 9 weeks pregnant with my 4 child. My youngest son is 13, so it's been a while since I was last pregnant. I started to get migraines 2 and half years ago. I don't just get the head pain though, I also get a stiffness and a numbness that effects the whole of my left side. My Neurologist told me to come completely of my preventive when I found out I was pregnant. I have had continuous stiffness throughout my pregnancy so far. I take paracetamol at the first sign of headache and so far none have developed into the migraine headache.

I'm 36 pregnant with baby #4. I suffer from severe chronic migraines and usually they go away during pregnancy... This time around they've gotten worse (I literally stayed in bed for over a week because I couldn't function). I refuse to take Rx meds unless I absolutely have to. I go to Starbucks and get something with extra espresso in it when the migraines start to get bad. My OB said caffeine is much safer than any drug they can prescribe and as long as I'm not downing a ton of caffeine it's perfectly fine and safe for baby. Everyone and every pregnancy is different, hope extra caffeine can work for you too. Good luck mama!

Thank you all! Def does help. Its interesting how each pregnancy effects us so differently.

I think stress, possibly the prenatal vitamins along with too much citrus may have been causing mine? I am still not sure, but am trying to track and log when it happens so I can attempt to define the triggers.

I have heard the caffeine withdraw can be tough, luckily, I do not drink caffeine at all so I didn't have to worry about that but I have heard it can really effect the body.

I'm not fitness instructor but I do workout at least 4-5 times a week (weights and minimum cardio) I used to have migranes long ago then they stop but with this pregnancy which is my third (First one 17 years ago I Was 17 years old, second last year which I ended up losing and now I'm 34 weeks) migrants came back.. they gave me medicine which is supposedly safe to take but I refused to take them.. well long short story what was causing it was the fact that I stopped drinking coffee. Now I drink one cup a day with almond milk and with a full stomach and that has helped a lot! Coffee is way safer than pills my obgyn recommended me to continue with my coffee lol hope this helps.

I am 35, and just found out I am about 5 weeks pregnant with my third. My son is almost 2 years old now. My Dr with that pregnancy told me not to take Zolfran due to the possibility of cleft palette. He prescribed me diclegis. It was made just for pregnant women. It helped me cope with my last pregnancy. I had the worst insomnia and morning sickness that lasted until my third trimester. The only thing that helped was the diclegis.
Good luck!

Thanks and I am finding that to be so true. Did you notice your symptoms were worse in general. I for example can't shake the head aches. I was so blessed in that I didn't get them at all with my others.

I had my first son at 26, and when my second son was born when I was 35, I was shocked at how much more exhausted and affected by pregnancy I was! I was extremely anemic, too, which didn't help. I'll be honest - the fatigue didn't get better until after the baby was born, but again, I think the anemia made a difference. If you can take good care of yourself and get lots of rest, I think you could perk up as you get into the 2nd trimester. It is just harder when we're older, though!
