Search for info sometimes doesn't help at all

I'm 38 yrs. old and 24 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and I just wanted to look for information about the procedures for induction, having a natural birth, the epidural, c-section etc. I google them and everything just got me more scare and nervous. Nothing seems easy or painless. I just hope to forget what I read by my due date. :(

I've had three live births, the last one was unmedicated. Did it hurt? Hell yes. But it was probably the single most amazing experience of my life. My best advise isto hire a doula (labor coach) who is trained in hypno birthing. They will help your dh do the things to support you too. Best money i ever spent. Find a doula locally, and they will work with you before the birth so you are at ease when it happens! Good luck ladies!

Easy and painless, huh, well that's an interesting subject. May I suggest Ether or the Twilight sleep.

C sections are not as bad as people make them out to be. I had to have an emergency c section with my daughter. I was walking around by 8 am the next morning. I don't think you should have a c section unless you need one but don't let people scare you. All borths have pain and we choose how we deal with it both chemically and mentally. No one has the right to tell you that you are doing it wrong. You wabt some relief then get it. You want all natural with a midwife like me go for it we support you fully. Also if for some reason the pain gets unbearable we get you to the hospital for help. Some women say i am going to do it all natural and don't make it other go in wanting pain meds and change their minds. BRITH PLANS ARE FLEXIBLE unless medical intervention is needed. Trust your doctor or midwife.

I just watched "More about the business of birthing" on Netflix. It has a lot of good information on natural childbirth options and c-section information you might check it out if you have Netflix.

I've had 5 c/s and due for my 6th this winter. It's not as bad as some say they are. In fact having a child vaginally terrifies me. It's the fear of the unknown that gets to us. Yes, with a surgery, your stomach is sore the first couple of days but with my first 2 babies, I was back to work in 1 week with the first and about 10 days with the second. It was not a desk job either.  So try not to stress over how you deliver, even the worse case senario isn't that bad at all. I'd choose c/s any day over natural as that is what I know and am comfortable
With.

Induction is no problem but is only done if needed. Pregnant with my 8th I say every birth is diffrant. Take it as it comes, remain calm, set up distractions such as music. Remember breathing dose help. Pain meds are not tabo. In lengthy labour its probably the go.  Dont fear what God blessed you with . You will be fine..

Nothing is easy about labor or childbirth... it IS manageable, though, and most women and babies get through it with no major complications. Do whatever you have to do to make it as easy for yourself as possible, whether it be natural, epidural, etc. You'll come through.

Everything will be fine! please don't listen to people that tell you that taking pain meds is not good, if you feel like you need them please take them! if you want to feel more comfortable more labor then please hire a doula it really helps!

Im in the same boat. I want to go natural but am afraid I wont be able to handle the pain. I have a good support system though. My hubby supports my decision and keeps reminding me to relax and he has faith in me. He knows I'll need massage and just his touch for a good portion of labor. And if I need a epidural or pain meds, I wont be ashamed or beat myself up for it. Best we can do is know its not easy and be prepared. I recommend a birthing class, im reading hypnobirthing but still need that verbal, face to face with someone who has been through or knows what to expect. Fear makes the pain intensify, thats what ive gathered from both. relaxing will make it so much easier. Ive had a few pretty painful experiences in my life and best I can say is they are temporary.

I know a fair bit about labour and have delivered babies.  However, I am frightened when it comes to my own body and don't know how I'll cope with it until it happens. I have had some painful experiences in the past but don't know how this will compare. My birth plan is to get baby out safely (and not bleed to death/harm myself in the process).  Labour is meant to hurt- but I'm sure we're all capable of coping and yet I won't be hard on myself if i need pain meds or an epidural.  I guess being aware many of us are scared despite labour being "natural" may help?

Stay away from c-section! It's extremely painful!
Erase from your mind 'Quick & painless'. There is no such thing!
Toughen up! Shortcuts in the delivery process are not good for the baby or you.
Keep in mind,  labor & delivery are 'labor-intensive'. It's not a spa experience.
You can make it pleasant & effective by being rested before the big day, maintaining an UPRIGHT position for the duration of the entire event & relaxing your pelvic muscles during contractions!
God designed your body to achieve success in this endeavor. Be confident!

I can't tell you how many times I've been told I'm nuts for going natural. You'll hear all sorts of mess. I even had a nurse begging me not to torture myself while I was in labor.
You just have to make sure you have a great support system and a will to do it.

You can do it!  You just have to learn not to fight your body. Our natural response to pain is to tense up and fight it. Hypnobirthing  teaches you to let go, relax and let your body do it's thing. I had to understand that the pain was for a purpose and was my body working to bring my baby out. I also learned that stress and anxiety produce adrenaline which can delay, lengthen or even stop labor.

Also look at hypnobirthing. Its a medatative approach to labor. Im a little scared/nervous but I think we are so conditioned to think we need pain relief and epidurals that most of us are too scared out of our minds to relax and give it a try. Im try a natural delivery, but if I end up needing drugs I wont beat myself up for it.
