Skin treatments during early pregnancy

Hello Ladies,
Does anyone know if it is safe to have a microdermabrasion laser skin peel during early pregnancy??
I need some pampering.
Thanks,
Lisa

Over the counter microderabrasion kits are safe to use during pregnancy.  I've been using estee lauder microdermabrasion kits.   But this is a bit different than the salon ones with the electrical current or whatever it is they use.   I had a facial last month and she wouldn't use the laser on me.

I'll ask the Ob on call at the Ultasound appointment on Tuesday.
I dont think a chemical peel would be bad becasue I thought it was mainly made of fruit acids, but I'm not to sure.

Oops, mine isn't a laser treatment though...it's more of a chemical peel.

Hi Lisa,
I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that myself...I have a microdermabrasion kit from Oil of Olay, and I wanted to do it a couple days ago, but didn't know if I should.  I know it penetrates the skin and causes mild tingling, that's why I was concerned...I'd go shopping instead too!  Pam

Thanks all for the input!
I'll save it for another time, (hopefully as an after birth treat).  For now, I'll just go shopping.
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

My salon cancelled/post poned ALL my treatments when I was pregnant. I had a course of microderabrasions and skin peels and was also having regular botox. I was just about to embark on a course of laser hair removal (bikini) and that was cancelled too!!! I have been back since loosing the baby and asked to resume but they have said NO as I am stil trying!!! The woman who owns the salon is 6 months pregnant and a friend of mine so its not like they are being awkward - but she told me that she has cancelled all of her treatments too as there is no evidence either way if it can harm the baby because no testing has been done. I have stayed away as I am cautious!!

I would think so.  I highly doubt something like that would pass through the placenta.  However, if it were me, I would be checking with the OB just to make sure...however, we all know how paranoid I am...lol.
