Spotting

Ever since Monday this week I keep having a little bit of brown spotting basically every day. Well just now I went to the bathroom and spotting turned to light pink. My doc's office is already closed.  It's not red but I am so worried. Should I go to ER? Spotting is not an emergency but I am sick with worry. I am only 5 weeks.  What do you guys think?

They told me I was too early for them to even be looking for a h/b.  I am just worried about no yolk sack but I guess the fact that we saw a dot that may be a yolk sack is something for me to hold on to.
Thank you guys for responding so late.  I am slowly getting a peace of mind.

You know, I am honestly not sure.  I asked DH after and he couldn't remember either.  I was so upset there was no h/b, I just didn't hear anything else.  They said it was measuring 5 to 5 1/2 weeks, and I absolutely know the date I got my LH surge, so I know my dates are right.  But they told me u/s is + or - around 4 days, so that explains things I guess.  Are you exactly 5 W now?  even if you are closer to 6, there is no worry at all about the lack of h/b.  I think it was maybebaby that had her u/s at 6 weeks exactly (I think thats what she said), and no h/b.  She went back for her 8 week, and there it was.

If you google brown/pink spotting first trimester, alot comes up on the subject.  25 - 30% of women have it, and the majority have normal healthy pregnancies.  I wish we could get some sort of guarantee, and I know its not possible, but remember the majority of pregnancies are successful.  I keep reading all those stats, and it really helps.

At 5 weeks 3 days we saw an empty sac, 6 weeks we saw fetal pole and yolk sac, 7 weeks we saw heartbeat.  It's surprising how much difference a few days or a week makes.
the pelvic exam may cause a little bleeding as well, because the cervix is more sensitive now.
Wishing you all the best for your follow up on Tuesday. Take it easy over the weekend.

Did they see a yolk sack or just a gestational sack?  We saw some dot inside but they would not call it a yolk.
Thank you so much for responding.

Your numbers sure look good, and your cervix being closed is also a really positive sign.  As for the u/s, at my 5W6D I didn't see a heartbeat, and they told me that was normal.  I was told the earliest a heartbeat will show up is 5 1/2 weeks, but not everyone is the same.  I also only saw a sac, and again they told me no big deal.  In fact, they are not even having me come back until 10 weeks.

These are all positive signs, and the bleeding can be for lots of reasons besides m/c.  Try to take it easy this weekend, and keep your feet up.  I know your scared, and easier said than done, but try to relax a lot this weekend if you can.  Keep us posted.

Just got back from ER.  My hcg went up to 9700+ (from 2183 on Monday) which is a good news.  Pelvic exam showed that my cervix is closed but also that there is some bleeding.  Er dr could not say whether it was normal pregnancy bleeding or beginning of a m/c.  I will have to follow up with my dr and see if hcg keeps going up.  Unfortunately, it's holiday weekend and I will not be able to follow up till Tuesday.  U/s showed a very small gestational sack but nothing else.  I will be 4 weeks after retrieval this Monday, shouldn't there be more???  The sack was too small for the u/s machine to date even.  I am really worried now...  Don't some people have a h/b at the end of 5 weeks of pregnancy?  Anyone went through ivf and only sw a gestational sack a little under 4 weeks after retrieval?

Thank you uso much for yoour help!!

Are youhaving any other symptoms-cramping, lower back pain, fever, anything like that?
I am now almost 17 weeks; at 12 weeks 3 days I had a full out bright red bleed, soaked through a pad in about half an hour.  I went to the ER for that, as it was after hours for my RE's office. They did 3 ultrasounds and blood work, everything was fine. They told me if I bled more than a normal period to come back.  Followed up with my doctor's office, they said if I go through more than one pad an hour to come in. It ended up happening again a week later. Again, everything was ok.
Bleeding can be normal, but it's also very scary, and since we are coming up on a holiday weekend, if it would give you peace of mind, I say get it checked out in the ER. Best wishes

I know a lot of women this happened to, and all turned out just fine.  but i know you must be terrified right now, and telling you that probably doesn't help right at this moment.  I can tell you that unless there is heavy bleeding involved, the er probably will just refer you back to your ob or dr.  You are probably best to wait and call your Dr. when they are open, or go to a walk in clinic.  However, if you need the reassurance for peace of mind, then by all means go to the ER.  You need to do what is best for you right now.  I know  how scary this is right now. Just remember that at least 30% of women will have some bleeding in first trimester, and usually its fine.  Remember that bright red bleeding I had 2 weeks ago?  And everything was fine on the u/s.  If you decide to wait to talk to you Dr., get your feet up, totally take it easy, and no bd'ing.  Thats what they told me.  Hang in there Helen, it will be ok.

Big Hugs

Dont worry yourself crazy.
If it were a miscarriage I would think it would have been over with by now.  I had a miscarriage and the spotting was only 2 days, then the miscarriage.  You would know if you had a miscarriage. Maybe you just need progesterone - if thats the case I would go to the emergency room or call your Dr emergency number ASAP!!.

I had a tiny bit of brown spotting at about that same time.  I think it is fairly normal but my RE put me on bedrest for three days just as a precaution.  It never happened again.  Can  you leave a message with his service and maybe he or a nurse can get back to you?
