Stopping progesterone today....worried its too early

My RE told me to stop taking my progesterone today, as he wants it to get out of my system for my visit on tuesday. that way he can tell what my true levels are. my levels have been very high, ranging from 7200-15000. i am nervous to stop though. i am only 7 1/2 weeks. what if my body takes this drop in progesterone as a signal to shed my lining?? this is going to be a horrible three days. why not just let me stay on till 10-12 weeks?
did any of you guys stop your progesterone so early?
worried, worried, worried.

thanks, i did call the doctor back to see if he could just lower my dose but they said no, that i need to stop and if my levels come back low tomorrow that he would restart. i'm still nervous but they told me that around 7 weeks is when the placenta starts to function and i should be fine. so i stopped and i go in tomorrow for another u/s and bloodwork.

Hey, my RE stopped my progesterone at 71/2 weeks(that was 2 days ago). My level was 52 and she said I dont need it since placenta will take over at 56 days of conception and I completely trust her. She told me about all this when even I was worried and wanted to continue especially because I have been having brown discharge for last 1 week. Even then my research told me that she is right and not sure why most other REs follow old guidelines of continuing until 12 weeks although no research shows benefit.
Hope this helps.

I agree with them. My Ob stopped my progesterone at 12 weeks. I don understand why he would need to test your levels again. Maybe you should ask him if he plans to put you back on progresterone after your test and if so, then at least he is not asking you to stop completely.

I too stopped mine at around 12 or 13 weeks.  As far as I know first trimester is the general rule.  I know we are somewhat programed to "Dr. know's best" and I would never ever advise anyone to not follow Dr.'s advice.  However, there is nothing wrong with questioning his/her advice if it goes against your instincts or is making you nervous.  There is also nothing wrong with getting a second opinion if you feel uncomfortable.  I also have to second Ecologic's comment....typically most OB's are monitoring by u/s now.

That seems a bit early, I stopped mine at week 12 or 13 I think. Plus after 7 1/2 weeks, most ob-gyns follow the evolution of the baby with ultrasounds, not progesterone levels - particularly as you are already on progesterone supplements! You may want to keep taking your progesterone and re-discuss that topic on Tuesday with your ob-gyn....
