Time for me to vent a little.. you don't have to read..lol

IN ADVANCE.. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG...

DH has tried getting business down here to no avail so he went back to work where he used to have his business before moving down here.. it's 2 hours away, so he got an apartment there so he doesn't have to drive back and fourth every day. Just sucks and we miss him terribly!

He came home early Friday because he felt like he was coming down with something. He slept a lot and did a couple sauna's to try and get it out of his system quicker. He did feel lots better by Saturday night so him and my son went to the gym to play basketball and whatnot.

So, he left for work Sunday night and Monday morning my son has a slight cough and a headache. Nothing that Motrin wouldn't help. He goes to school, comes home and still says the same thing, I give him more meds.. Yesterday he felt sick a little but hates to miss school, so I sent him but called the school and told them if he gets sick call me and I would come get him. They never called. Last night was AWFUL!!! he never got more then an hour and a half of sleep because of all the coughing, crying and stuffiness. If it wouldn't have been storming I would have taken him to the hospital during the night.

So this morning I couldn't get him into his regular doctor, the hospitals are both packed.. so I take him to express care at another clinic at 10 AM. He has a temp of 102.6, is coughing his head off, pukes in the trashcan, nose running like a fountain, crying because he doesn't feel good and is cold, the list goes on and on.. We wait forever because it's so crowded in there because EVERYONE is sick!! Well, the doctor comes in and reminds us that the last time he was in there was exactly one year ago today with the same thing! But anyways.. He doesn't have strep throat, but does have severe bronchitis and a touch of the flu. He puts him on 5 medications and says to wait an hour and a half and go pick it up at the drug store, they do their prescriptions electronically. So, we go to the store to get some more chicken noodle soup and juice for him to drink.. we waste an hour and a half so they can get the script done. It's now 2:30. Go to CVS.. they haven't even looked at it!!!!! Oh I was so flippin mad! So they inform me that if I wait there it will be an hour but I MUST STAY IN THE STORE! If I walk out, even to my car it's another 3 hours. OMG I was SO MAD!! I said, well wasn't it called in an hour and a half ago already? She says yes but we are so packed and there is a ton of people ahead of you, mind you, the store isn't that big and there was not very many cars in the parking lot and hardly anyone in the store, but I'm like well, he has to have the medicines because he is running a fever and is so sick! So I wait..

Mind you he hasn't got much sleep and he is still sick as a dog...... and hasn't had any meds since before we left this morning at 10! I feel his head and he feels hotter to me and tells me he is really feeling bad and wants to lay down. I tell him I'm sorry but we have to wait there IN THE STORE. He is 10, sick, sleepy, cranky, doesn't understand why so he goes over to sit in this chair and the next thing I know he is laying on the floor. He is a very picky kid and doesn't even like strangers to touch him, won't open a door to a store, makes me do it, but this poor kid is so sick that he is laying on the floor crying! I felt so bad, but I knew he needed this medicine because the medicines that I was giving him wasn't working, so I chose to stay there and wait. The woman behind the counter looks at me and says.. "he needs to get up!", Which I am trying to get him up and sit back in the chair but they are so uncomfortable that he just doesn't. He says "I can't help it mom, I don't feel good and I'm tired!" I say well babe, this is no place to be laying on the floor because it's really germy and nasty and he should get up and try to sit in the chair and maybe they will hurry up. Meanwhile, another woman comes in and sits in the chair, and they only have 3 out there, so he just sits on the floor. The woman says louder "Mam, he NEEDS to get up, there isn't enough room in here to be sitting on the floor like that. I'm like "you need to calm down Einstein, why do you think he is sitting on the floor?.. there is NO MORE seats!" She says, "well you can sit him on your lap." I said "I don't think that is a good idea because I am pregnant and he is so sick." She says,"well you will be okay for a few minutes". I said a few minutes my ***, we've been here 45 already and besides what are you doing but stand there and argue with me, you come hold him if you are so worried about it, but I am not going to hold him the way he is coughing because I'M PREGNANT and don't want to get sick". She says, No, I don't want to get sick either" WELL DUH!!! I'm telling you, she really pi$$ed me off!! So, after another 40 minutes they finally call his name. So, we got home at around 5:15 and he got his meds and has been sleeping ever since!

But the whole thing was how disrespectful this woman was with me!! Is it just the hormones in me and maybe I over reacted? or was she just plain rude?

Okay, enough venting.. again..sorry this is so long..... Thanks for listening!!..
Patty

Tricia- We live in Ohio and yes I believe it is all over the country. They told me that pharmacies all over are running out of meds! And they closed one local school down 2 days this week because of all the absences! It's bad!

Vanessa- Mess with us pregnant women and see what they get!

Jen- He is feeling better today, but he slept for 15 hours straight!!! Rest is what he needed!

Oh patty - I'm sorry that that @itch treated you like that!!!  My dh's a pharmacist & I've made him take sensitivity training (I kid you not) so he and his staff know how to treat the patients!!!  I feel so bad that you were treated like that - as vanessa said - wtf???  I'm glad that you complained - when I hear dh's staff being rude to patients, I'm very vocal about them being nice to those patients!!

I hope your son feels better soon - the poor thing!!  I also pray that you don't get sick - that's the last thing that you need! - jen

I couldn't believe her, I didn't ask for it either but you know what could I do.....I am sorry you son is sick, is he feeling any better?

You did way mo better than I would have. Glad you reported it. I would follow up with a letter to the president as well. Sometimes a phone call meets sympathetic ears then forgotten or not passed on the the powers that be.

Second of all, fire their a$$es! You are the customer and that is the worst service ever. Find a pharmacy that takes your ins and give them all of your info ahead of time. The smaller "mom and pop" type pharmacies are great. My Walgreens people know me and take good care of me here. But, I lived further south for some yrs and used a Medicine Shop pharmacy and they were wonderful. Filled rx quick and seemed to be genuinely concerned. I wouldn't give CVS one more red cent. Man, you got me boiling! lol I am going to boycott them from here on. The big corporate machine rolls on, rage against the machine!  he he he

omgsh, when I was little my mum went through the same thing!
She told the lady working to get off her @$$ and do her job... And, Stop fussing about how sick I was and sitting in the floor, otherwise she was going to get me to cough in her face. LOL.

My mom had worked a 13hr shift then came home to me sick and she took me to the doctor which was another 3 hours and finally went to get the meds... which took 1hr and 1/2..

SHE WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! LOL

If you lived in Calgary Alberta, our health care system really sucks, and if you were to wait in the ER with your kid, it can be anywhere's from 30 minutes (depending how sick he is) upto 8 hours wait.

We have the Alberta Children's Hospital and even though they advise you not to bring them there unless their ped's doctor says to go there, but theres always the other hospital's we have or the clinic's and even at those clinc's the waiting is best done at home.

Someday there will be that chance when you can and this is probably not to far off in the future, when you open up your TV screen and dial the doctor, clinic or hospital and they can tell you what's wrong with them, take their temp, BP, submit a blood test etc.

Well dammit, hurry up, cant wait for the future, we need a better system or yet the hospital should be paying us for our time.

and another thing, we are paying for this better healthcare which by the way and dont get me wrong. There are some really good nurses out there, but some are really bad apples, so between you being pregnant and her, I guess would be to have offered him something better, because YOU ARE PAYING THEIR WAGES AND, if it werent for sick people, they would be out of a job.

Patty - you are so much more friggin polite then I would have been - I'm glad you did call and report the witch - I definitely would have done that - and I would still call corporate and report her - that's ridiculous - she is representing their company and that kind of attitude will just drive away customers - but I would have been a real snot - I would have set my son on the counter and told him that every time he needed to cough or sneeze - do it in her direction - I bet that prescription would have gotten filled pretty darn quick at that point - LOL - and if she told him to get off the counter - ask for the written store policy that states that he can't sit there - no hon, you are being pregnant and hormonal - you are being a mommy with a sick baby who was treated with disrepect and rudeness - sing it with me sistah - "Were not gonna take it - no we ain't gonna take it - we're not gonna take it anymore!"

I have reported it, Thanks Ladies!! I must say, I have been going there for a few years and I have not had this problem before, but I also haven't seen this woman before either. I called and left a message for the Head Pharmacist and the manager. Lordy I was mad when I got home! You know I always try to be as patient and polite as I can but that woman was just too much! Rolling her eyes when she told me if I go out that door it would be another 3 hours and everything!

Carolyn- I have seen pharmacies do that kind of thing before! Scary! And thank God they put the description of the pills on the bottle so you know you have the right ones!!

You know, it makes a person really not trust pharmacies. And what about this one... for the last couple times I have been in there, there is one particular pharmacist that is always eating his lunch while working. I understand that they are busy and can hardly fit lunch in, but my lord, I hope he is using at least hand sanitizer or something because I know he can not be *washing* his hands, there is no sink right there where he stands! I just sit there praying and thinking, please let someone else be filling my scripts!

Oh No she Didnt!!!  They have a website and I would report it to their corporate office. I did this to Walgreens one time because the Pharmacist was being a real B and they called me apologizing, etc.......No, it's not just your PG hormones. That lady was being a huge B!

Not all pharmacies are that way.  CVS has a bad reputation all around. I had one rx that i got filled at ours regularly for over a year.  The last time I went, this is what happened.  I picked up my rx, and when I got home and looked it was short 20 pills. I called the pharmacy and the PHARMACIST said, "I opened a bottle of 100, and must have given you the 40 instead of the 60.  If you want to come back and pick it up, I will throw a few extra in the bottle for you."  Can you believe that? I told her no of course, I only lived a few blocks and would be right there.  I have never filled another rx there.  I have read about other problems the the chain itself, has had.  Every time I went to refill (even calling it in first), I always had to wait, and everyone else waiting was very pissed.

I wouldn't have been as nice as you were.  With the mood I have been in, I just dare someone to cross me like that.  It made me mad too, just reading it.  I sure hope your ds gets to feeling better now that he has his meds.  Being sick sucks!!  Use alot of lysol and wash your hands alot so you don't get it.

oh that makes me so angry for you. I'm not good in situations like that. I would have GONE OFF on her and said that if my child was sick and needed to lay down on a germy floor because they werre taking so *&^% long to fill a prescription then so be it, otherwise I would hold them liable for whatever stress and further illness they caused for both me and my child for having such demeaning, ridiculous rules in the first place. I would call CVS corporate and complain BIG TIME as that is just simply unacceptable!!
