early pregnancy

I am 6 weeks pregnant hcg level 1,400 yesterday, 483 over a week ago.  On ultrasound yesterday the sonographer showed me 2 separate thin black areas in uterus and told me it was more than likely a failing pregnancy. Nothing seen inside. I am not bleeding and still have physical signs of pregnancy. I am also 47.  If my dates were a week wrong do you feel this would make any difference or it is most likely she is right about expecting a miscarriage soon.  I am excepting of this news but not totally convinced.. Feel unsettled. Please help with any suggestion.
Many thanks. Kelly.

I would say that the 2 thin black areas concern the stenographer enough for them to point them out. Do you know exactly when the blood tests were taken (how many days apart) The numbers should double every 48 hours and if the second test showed that they weren't the dr. may be diagnosing demise.

Hi kelly...did they order a new blood test. Sometimes numbers don't rise like they shoudl in early pregnancy, particularly for older woman, and then they take off...as far as the u/s goes, my doctor told me as well as 4 others, that you can;t see anything on an u/s until your numbers are between 1500 and 2000 so it sounds like to me if your numbers were just 1400 than they wouldn't have seen anything...are you sure you are 6 weeks pregnant?

Amd yes, if your dates are week off it coudl make a world of difference and a dot is all you would see...

Here is the reality. You can't stop a mc/ you can only endure it in early pregnancy, so you either will or you won''t...since you are not bleeding and you have no m/c signs then I say hold on to Hope, get more bloodwork run...it is way too early to make any decisions...

I hope this helps..hang in there...only time will tell but relaxing is the best thing you can do for your baby.
