ovulation

Hi.  My husband and I are ttc.  I was on birth control for 10+ years & now I'm not quite sure when I'm ovulating.  It sounds strange to me to say that, but I'm still trying to pinpoint it.  I've been charting since mid-Oct. & haven't gotten positive opk's or a thermal shift yet.  I'm wondering if anyone has "symptoms" when they're ovulating that I can relate to.  I started a journal, so looked back to this time last month & am feeling a lot of similiarities, such as feeling nauseous/queazy.  I'm thinking maybe this could be due to an increase in estrogen during ovulation (because when I first starting taking b.c. pills, I got sick to my stomach & was switched to one with low estrogen).  I'm not sure, though, if the increase in estrogen comes before, during or after ovulation.  I know I'm reaching with this question & should just be patient, but any advice or information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I have a question about pinpointing fertility from vaginal mucous.....I used to be able to see a big difference from it being tacky between my fingers to stringy, like eggwhite but now (maybe cos Im older) I dont seem to get the stringy anymore..........how vital is it to get the stringy egg type one to actually get pregnant??

I found a fantastic book which I know helped us conceive our 2nd child, after years of unsuccessfully ttc on our own. . . ."Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. ISBN# 0-06-093764-5.  Her method of charting was amazing and really helped me finally locate ovulation and luteal phase.  Book website is:  www.tcoyf.com.  Might be worth checking out. Good luck!

Hi.  Thanks for your response :)  I do track on fertility friend.  They haven't pinpointed my ovulation yet, so I'm wondering if it just happens later than I always thought.  "They" assume it's going to be Day 14, but I'm thinking maybe it's later, during the time that I've been feeling nauseous, bloated & getting pimples !  I'm still using the opks to keep tracking.  Last month, I stopped using them after I "assumed" I ovulated because it was after the 14th day.  Obviously I'm still learning !  I have gotten a darker line on the opk, but not equal to or darker than the control line.  Do they start out light and gradually get darker or do they fluctuate until you get a positive?  'Cause mine seem to fluctuate.  I decided to buy the Clear Blue digital (the one with the happy face/empty face) just to make sure that I'm not guessing whether it's positive.  I'll keep testing through the weekend.  This is really all very interesting :)
Oh, I read that you get an estrogen surge just before the LH surge & so I'm wondering if the estrogen surge is what's causing the nausea.  Any thoughts?  Thanks again :)

you can track your symptoms on fertility friend and they will help to pinpoint ovulation.  I actually NEVER got a positive OPK with this pregnancy...do your tests get darker?  good luck
