I totally agree with the other ladies - Breastmilk is the BEST thing you can give your little one even if you are sick.  Will pass on antibodies

He'll be fine! Don't panic, just let DH do the work for a few days.

Best wishes and have some chicken soup,

In our breastfeeding class, they told us to continue to feed even if we were sick, so I guess that would mean that the baby won't get it through the milk!

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon :)

I think because you are sick, you're body has produced antibodies against whatever virus you have. The great thing is that you are passing the antibodies on to your baby by breast feeding.  Your baby actually has a smaller chance of catching your illness because you are breast feeding!

I'm not an expert, but if you have the flu and a new baby you probably don't have as much time to google.  According to CDC, your baby won't get the flu through your breastmilk, nor will he have effects from your flu medications.  This goes for both H1N1 and regular flu.  However, breathing on him, kissing him, touching him with your hands if they have the virus on them...he can get flu that way.  The recommend pumping and having someone else feed him.
Gesh, get well soon!
