I would agree that it's really early to see a heartbeat at this point but it's possible to see at least the gestational sac. I know we waited until 7w1d for my first u/s & that's when we saw 'everything' as well as the heartbeat. Good luck!
I went for my first u/s at 6w 1 and all that was visible was a sac. I stressed about it all weekend, even though the dr. told me it was probably too early. He sent me back at 6 w 4 days to a better machine and we saw everything! That was Monday. What a relief! I wonder why they're sending you so early. Don't be disappointed if you don't see much. I know it's hard to wait, but try not to get too worried. Good luck!
Thanks everyone! It went well this morning, I got to see the sac, not much else. She admitted it was too early to see more; I guess they just wanted to make sure the sac was in the uterus (because I did IVF, and there is a higher risk of ectopic). But, there it was, right were it's supposed to be! I go back next Monday for another scan, which will be 6 weeks. Which I understand may also be a little early still, so I'll try not to freak out if they still don't see much.
I also had u/s @ 6 weeks 1 day & no embryo (just gestational sac & yolk sac). Went back at 7 weeks 2 days and saw heartbeat so don't worry and don't expect too much so early.
You and I are really close in schedule--I am exactly 6 weeks pg today. My first u/s is a week from tomorrow, March 13, and I will be 7 weeks, 3days. I am glad you posted because I was wondering if they were waiting too long to do my first u/s.
I am glad everything seems to be moving along smoothly. Congratulations :-)
Oooo, how exciting for you! I go for my third blood test tomorrow and then the nurse said she will give me "schedule" for the next few weeks. I was wondering when the first u/s would be!!!! I'm five weeks today.
Don't get disappointed if you don't have the heartbeat yet, I would say it is too early and I also was told it is usually only after 6 weeks.
Best of luck.
