I am the proud mom of 3 furry dogs and 7 furry cats and I am 12 weeks pregnant.
I use baby powder johson and johnson and i plce the powder in my body and my bed, my cats go crazy _cute like purring, rolling in the bed and kissing me_huggin me.

I grow up with pets all my life and i have photos of me and my family huge furry dog and she is slepping righ on my side ( cute pic!) but my momo never let me unattended, juts the heavy body of the dog would have been fatal on my tiny baby body!

I have a small dog which is a bully and he loves to play with dolls!..everytime my niece comes to vist me with her dolls he steal the dolls fom her and takes their head off....he is just playing so if he sees a baby he migh think is a doll so YES! we have to be carefyl!  animals just playing can cause pain un any family with a new born baby

As ADGAL says: i wont let my cats along with the baby, if the baby pull their tail or pucnh a cat eye, this cat will scratch the baby...but its not the cat fault!...

do not live your baby with small childs either, i heard a case were a 3 years old want to give a bath to the baby , so the mother felt to sleep and put the baby in the bath with a lot water...and guess what happen?

Do not leave your baby alone anywhere / with noone!...no pets, no child, no untrusted family, no neighboords!

my mom runs a rescue for rotts and pits and before i brought my son home (since i was living with my parents at the time) we asked the vet what they suggested we do to prevent any incidenses

the bringing home of the hospital blanket is so important....leave the blanket lay by the dogs bed or somewhere she will continously pick up the scent...if you can bring home many blankets....

when you bring the baby home never ever leave them alone...while my dog is very gentle with the baby it only takes a second for something to go wrong

please talk to you vet and see if they have other suggestions

i own a pit and am currently 23 weeks pregnant. while my pit is very friendly i dont leave her alone around my other children nor would i leave any animal around my child because of how easily animals can turn...we plan on bringing home something with the new babys scent on it before we bring the baby home just so she knows the new smell. this a very sad story and i feel really bad for the family because they lost there child and family dog.

It is so sad, and so easily preventable.  My take on any pet is that they can be unpredictable.  Even the most docile and family friendly animal can turn under the right circumstances.  Personally, I don't even leave my son unattended with my cat.  Why take the risk?  And the reality is some breeds are not recommended family pets, and there is a valid reason for that.  They should be watched extra carefully.  As waitn said, this can be prevented with just a little extra caution and vigilance on the part of the owner.  This story made me cry...I just cannot even imagine...how senseless.

it really is sad for the family....they lost their baby and dog....its so important that parents with animals introduce the new addition properly....

i had my son in a house with 2 rotties....we took his hospital blanket home before he came home and let the dogs smell it....let me tell you....those dogs LOVED that little baby....and no issues ever

did the same thing with my daughter and we currently have a pit mixed and no issues...i call our dog nanny dog....please talk to your vet before bring a baby home....

THIS CAN BE PREVENTED!!!!!!
