41 and 1st pregnancy

So I'm 41 and didn't think I could get pregnant. Fertility treatments didn't work. Found out yesterday I am 5 weeks pregnant. Any suggestions or tips for being over 41 and 1st time pregnancy?

Thanks everyone. I'm 5 weeks 3 days. Yeah definitely going to do all the tests. I go Friday to hear the heart beat. Cannot wait. I still can't believe it. Such a blessing. But definetly being cautious since I'm considered high risk. I was pretty nauseous for a few days. Having headaches and cramps. But dr said it's normal. I did get to see the sac on an ultrasound Monday. That was so exciting. Couldn't believe it.

Congrats. Just keep up w your prenatal care; get the blood test done to determine chromosomal problems, when they're offered, you'll be fine. What was a relief to me, was that I learned that the incidence of Downs Syndrome does go up with pregnant women over 35, however, the chances are still very remote! So the odds are on your side. Take care:).

Congrats! I'm a first time mom too. I'm 36 ( but will be 37 in 2 weeks). I'm 5 weeks, 2 days. How far along are you? Feeling any symptoms?
