6w1d ultrasound worried!!!

Hello, I am worried....please help if you know the correct answer. I had my first trans-fag u/s today and they saw everything including fetal pole which measured 3.8 mm and they also saw the yolk sac and everything seemed correct for the exact time of pregnancy....but no fetal heart rate. I am worried because some women do see one at this point and I am 42 and had IVF, does anyone out there know when is the most common time to see the heart rate? I have been told to come back next week....but for now, and with a very difficult history regarding 6 miscarriages many years ago...I am concerned! Help please, I would appreciate any advice!
Thanks

You had a great ultrasound, no need to fret! You saw a fetal pole and that is awesome at this stage in the game!!!! I had a u/s around 6wks 6days for my first and I did see a heartrate but remember everyday in the beginning makes a huge amount of difference. When I had one a at 5wks 6days for my second son, all I saw was a fetal pole and a yolk sac, so you can see it looks so close in time but in the world of pregnancy days are huge!

I know next week will be great!

My IVF doc will not even get near a patient with an ultrasound wand until 7 weeks for this very reason.  All it does is freak people out.  Good luck, and keep us posted when you see the ultrasound next week!

I agree.  Hopefully they are planning to do a repeat ultrasuond in a week or so.  By then you should see a fetal heartbeat.  At this point it could just simply be too early.

A lot of women have posted this same question. I've never had an u/s that early, but from what I've read, 6 weeks is often too early to see a heart beat.
