Acne with Vengence...any thoughts?

My hormones must be going nuts! I have been on 500 mg Amoxicillan from my dermatologist for about 2 years to keep misc. zits at bay (sounds bad, but had some horrible teenage years!)...and it has worked tremendously. Face clear as can be.

When I got pregnant (found out at 1.5 weeks), I stopped all medication.

Now, at almost 6 weeks I am having cystic like acne on my chin area...I have never had anything this bad!

Will the rest of 8 months be like this? Arrggg....It even hurts!

Can i take the Amoxicillan again? I read up and it said it is not a big deal. My DR has not gotten back to me yet.

Anyone else had this? Any suggestions? Does it go away?

I too about a 1 1/2 years ago cut out ALL refined products & my skin got MUCH better, I too lost weight which I didn't need to, I looked unhealthy.  I still eat really good, but not as strict as I was.  I needed to gain a few pounds back which I did, but my skin is all messed up again just not those GROSS HUGE boil type CYST!  Ohhhh those were ugly & sooooo PAINFUL!

I've never had a problem until I hit 30, then bang, I'd get these monumentally ugly eruptions just on my chin.  Back then, a naturopath told me to cut out all white food, ie, flour and sugar. I did and lost weight I really didn't need to lose. But I also lost the zits!

Problem is it was a very difficult way to eat 24/7.  I now use Prozac but I see that's not working for you.  Are you using the whole line or just the acne medication?  I'm otherwise at a loss, as it's the only stuff that's got rid of mine. Every other product, including natural like tea tree oil, hasn't helped.

I was getting REALLY REALLY bad cyst type of acne when I was having my major ovarian cyst problem.  I figured it was my hormones a WEIRDED out!  Since I had it removed my cyst type cyst went away.  BUT I have a few scars from them, which really stinks!  & they HURT SOOOOOO BADDDDDDD!  They were GROSS, & mostle on my jaw line & kneck!  Ughhhhhh!
I have gotten a few small ones while I was on my 2 medicated cycles, but not too bad.
Hormones play a BIG role!
Since I ovulated this month, I have been on progesterone supp.'s & I've got small stupid zits, like some are little white heads & some are just little zits Grrrrrrrrrr
I'm 40 NOW Geeeeez WHEN am I gonna have clear skin!
Actually w/my 3 good pregnancies, my skin really looked good, so it's weird how it all works!

Ask your DR about the antibiotic.  I bet it's fine cuz that is one of the kind you can take during pregnancy.  The only thing to think about is, your unborn babies teeth.......I had a very bad sinus infection w/my son (11 years ago) & had to be on antibiotics for 2 weeks, & the poor kid's teeth are stained yellowish, he also had to be on them as a small baby off n on for 4 months cuz of ear infections, but I know sometimes antibiotics can do that to teeth.....but his teeth are the BEST out of all 3 of my kids.....go figure! lol

Thanks girls!
I feel like a pizza...LOL!
Ironically, I use Proactive (god love those infomercials), but it has not seemed to work anymore.
I had no idea to avoid Salasydic (sp) acid  ooopsie....

check w/the provider - acne occurs during pregnancy, drats, but it should be okay to take amoxillicilan (sp?) w/a doctor's permission/prescription.  I'm sorry he hasn't gotten back to you.  In my experience and what I've read, it usually gets better during the 2nd trimester if that's any help.  Hang in there! - jen

hello! oo i know how that is! i was on accutane when i was a teenager.. and then in college it seemed to flare up again.. but nothing like what pregnancy did to me!  I used proactive in college and it worked wanders.. i had switched to organic cleansers (non acne type) before getitng pregnant (since we were trying everything!). anyhow i asked my obgyn about proactive (after being broken out like a teenager for months). she said thats perfectly safe!  so i started using it (though in moderation) and no more acne! :)    you are supposed to avoid products with salisylic (sp?) acid in them while pregnant.. but benzoyl peroxide (which is what proactive has) is apprently safe! GOOD LUCK and congrats!!! : )
