Almost 40, any baby chance??

Hi, Im going to be 40 in August and have been with my new partner for almost 3 yrs, I have to older children by my previous marriage age 14 and 18 so I do consider myself truly blessed I really do but we have been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for 2 yrs now. Things are not simple as I had a ruptured ovarian cyst  about 8 yrs ago which resulted in me losing my right ovary and tube! The doctors did say at the time that I shouldnt have problems with pregnancy but that was when I was alot younger!! My new partner has been tested and he is fine, has some swimmers that aren't going the correct way but millions more that are! I have stopped getting too stressed about it now so hopefully something will happen I just needed some advice/guidance/support from anyone who maybe has been through or going through the same or similar. It did take me 2 years to get pregnant with my 2 boys also and that happened in the end, its just I feel time is rapidly running out and really dont want to be "too old" to be a good mum. I have ovulation pain every month  and a period every 26-28 days so things are still working, I hope anyway!! any advice welcome. x

Just keep at it and keep trying.  Maybe be a bit more aggresive with your efforts by going to see an infertility doctor.  I wouldn't wait the 6 months they say when you're over 35, just because you are close to 40.

I have one ovary and have had one since 1986.  I had two kids previously when i was younger, not problems TTC, and did get pregnant 5 times after I hit 40. Just keep at it.

Hello there, and welcome!!  You are in the right place!!  I just turned 40 in January and am also trying to conceive, although in my case it would be the first for both of us.  My situation is slightly diffferent as I do get pregnant on my own, but have a little trouble making past first trimester.  There are so many stories on here, some like yours, and so many of these women had gone on to have successful and healthy pregnancies.  I can tell you it is very possible, even likely as you are still having regular cycles!!  If I were you, I would see an RE, although it sounds like you may be doing that as you have had some testing done.  I understand how you feel about time running out, I have exactly the same fear.  Welcome to our community, and although I can't personally give you a lot of advice in dealing with one ovary and one tube, I have no doubt there will be others who respond that can and will!  Good luck to you, and I look forward to seeing you post your success!!!  Amanda
