Always Negative, but is it really?

Got married in summer 2012, have been ttc ever since. Had a delayed AF/possible early miscarriage in Dec 2012 (42 day cycle).  Had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in March 2013. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts on both sides Fall 2013.  Cysts have all been simple and have been as large as a baseball, but come and go (no surgery). My doctor (a fertility/ovarian cyst specialist) says I'm one of those people that is just good at making them.

Before possible Dec 2012 miscarriage and since getting my hypothyroidism under control, my cycle is usually a bit of spotting late in the day on Day 28 and then the next day is Day 1.  It's almost like clockwork!

In Nov 2013, Dr. had me do ovulation tests just to see if I was ovulating. All test were negative. She had been doing ultrasounds monthly, but could not see any follicles due to the size and placement of the cysts.  Given that I did not ovulate per the home ovulation test, she decided I should have the cysts out and I was set to have it done around New Years.  At pre-op in Dec the cysts had shrunk to under 2cm. Took noretherprone (sp?), a type of birth control, over holidays to further shrink cysts.

Started Letrozole for Jan and Feb cycles.  Due to cysts, Dr. has me come in on Day 3 and Day 10 for ultrasounds -- Day 3 to see what is there, Day 10 to see what is different (follicles developed).

In January, took 2 Letrozole a day for days 4-8. On Jan Day 10 Ultrasound, had a possible follicle, but was next to a cyst so was hard to tell.  Did 7 days of ovulation testing and all were negative.

When I went back in Feb (Day 3), she thought I might have a corpus luteum, but it might also be a complex cyst. She upped the Letrozole to 3 pills a day. When I came in on Day 12 (later than normal due to scheduling availability), she saw 2 follicles on the right and 3 on the left. She then started to apologize to me that if all "went well", I might have multiples! (If only! I would love that!)

As always, did the 7 days of ovulation testing and all were negative. Again. Talk about disappointing.

About the end of February, started to feel not so great.
--Headache that isn't in a particular spot, but kind of feels like it is a helmet of headache-ness around the outside of my head.  Comes on really quick, stays for some random amount of time and is just suddenly gone. Sometimes I wake up with it, sometime I have it when I go to bed, sometimes just get it in the middle of the day.
--Not really nauseous or queasy, but when I cook or am going to start eating, there is a second of "Ick...", and then once the food is in my stomach is doesn't feel great, but also not to the point of needing to run for the bathroom.  Just odd...
--Maybe more sense of smell? Always been pretty keen with scent, but recently have been noticing things my husband doesn't (he has a good sense of smell too).
--Bone weary, dead tired. The busy-ness of my life has not been any different, but have suddenly started falling asleep any time I sit in a chair with upholstery.
--Odd abdominal twinges. Not quit pain, not cramps, not anything intestinal. Just... odd and down there.

I chalked my symptoms up to various things, like maybe I was getting sick or maybe I was stressed bout something. I have been making them now for about 12 days.

Friday was my day to start spotting, but no sign of AF yet.  Took a pregnancy test this morning when I got up and it was negative.

The policy with my dr. is that if I am at Day 40 with no positive pregnancy test, then I am supposed to call.  Considering that we are at Day 31... it's gonna be a long week if nothing happens.

So, in my round-about way of spewing random facts, I was wondering if anyone else was in the 'negative club' with the at-home ovulation and pregnancy tests?  Even when I had a confirmed pregnancy, I still was having negative pregnancy tests. Is this a me thing? Is this something I should be concerned over? Just looking for some some support or other's stories if they have had similar issues.  Thanks!!!

(BTW, I use ClearBlue ovulation and pregnancy tests)

I get faint positives at least 1 week after AF is expected.  Never with the blue tests,  only with the pink one.   It's so frustrating.  It takes 2 weeks to get a for sure positive that I don't have to hold up to the light and examine for 30 minutes.

I am currently 45 days in my cycle and I have had 2 negative tests. My doctor told me to wait until I am 4 weeks past due for my period to get a blood test done. A lot of women do not have the hcg levels needed for the urine tests until they are 8 weeks or more pregnant. I am now testing weekly until April 1st. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Well, I waited the standard 3 days and took another this morning. Still negative.  Yesterday was making a key lime pie and the odor of the limes were enough to make me walk quickly to the bathroom!  No vomiting thankfully, but it was by willpower alone that I didn't. The fact that others have not had positives on their tests gives me hope! Next Wednesday cannot come fast enough -- my Dr. better have a spot open that day or the next!

Glad to hear I am not the only one that always has negative OPKs and HPTs.  Today am so nauseous that it's not even funny. Was able to eat a little bit and all, but am just willing myself to keep everything down.  Didn't have nausea with my other pregnancy -- just fatigue, headaches, and weird back of earlobe rash that Dr. said was hormones freaking out in weird ways.  Just praying that my suspicions are correct!

Sorry, previous message was sent accidentally. I'm on the same boat you are. I  posted previously as to all of the negative OPKs i get and I am also prone to ovarian cysts. I also have endo, which a lot of it is around my ovary and I have not found an answer as to if there is any relation between negative OPKs, cysts, etc. It is frustrating!!! I do get monthly cycles though they've been a little screwy this past year. I had another lap in December and I've gotten a positive OPK in February and a light pos in March but I have not attempted anything since late last yr. Also when I was pregnant the last time several HPTs were negative but a blood test confirmed everything. Sometimes the hormone doesn't show in urine until ur 5, 6 wks along that's why they say, get a blood test done if period doesn't come. I am fed up with the OPKs and will see my RE this next cycle to actually see what my ovaries are doing. As far as your negative HPT and no period, I'm sorry. Sometimes ovarian cysts mimic pregnancy and there are times I swore I was preg and wasn't. I would go to the DR and get a blood test done. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I had a friend that didnt test positive until week 8 with blood work. For some reason she couldnt get a positive on the stick. I hope this helps in some way and that the next week goes quickly and or you get a positive before. Best wishes to you. ♥
