Any tips/suggestions for ttc??

Just thought I'd ask what worked for you? I unfortunately lost my boy last Sept after conceiving 'unexpectedly''  however we are now in our 6th month of ttc and as yet no bfp.  I am taking folic acid and just starting b6 for luteal phase.  Any suggestions/tips, no matter how weird :) will be gratefully received.  Many thanks

I work with a lady who is 43 and pregnant with baby #8. She swears avocado increases her fertility. Weird enough for you? LOL. Good Luck!

I took DHEA for a while when I wasn't able to conceive for over a year.  I got pregnant in Oct 08 but lost that one, Jun 09 ended again and Jan 10 I was pregnant again.  I started to m/c but right now we are unsure if I got pregnant again right away or if I'm still dealing with the same m/c since my levels last Thursday was at 81.  I'll know more on what is going on this Thursday.  I also take vitamin E water soluble, vitamin b12, calcium, extra folic acid, vitamin c and a multi vitamin.

Three months after our miscarriage, ( a pregnancy we were told would never happen in the first place), we began to ttc again.  The first month of ttc, I tracked my temps and we timed bd to when I thought I was ovulating. Nothing.  The second month I continued to track my temps and started using opk. Still nothing. The third month I saw a thing online about using instead soft cups after bd to hold dh "contribution" closer to the cervix for longer.  Since I work graveyard shift, I seemed to make sense to me that the little buggers might not be making it where they needed to go, so we tried adding that to the routine and bingo!  BFP!  I am now 27 weeks and would swear by them.

i had to cut down on my work stress, which was a big problem for me when ttc.

i eat lots of fresh veggies/fruit, moderate exercise 5x a week (jogging), cut down on my coffee/caffeine (1-2 cups a day) and cut down on alcohol ( 1 or 2 glasses of wine spritzer, only on the weekend).

pretty basic stuff, but here's a funny one my sis (1girl/1boy) told me to try. after sex, put your legs up in the air for about a minute - partner can help or you can put them against your headboard.

then i'd put a pillow under my bottom and lay down for about 10 minutes. it's not proven but thought it'd let the little swimmers get a push start. ;)

it can't hurt anyway! best wishes for ttc :)

what are the "instead soft cups".....this is a new phrase to me?

Sounds like the things that used to be called "Tassaways," which were a cup-shaped thing you put into your vagina to catch menstrual fluid, so you wouldn't have to wear a tampon or pad.  (They would work possibly on someone whose cervix was perfectly straight in the vagina, but they didn't work too well for anyone else, and they went out of business.)  Maybe someone has revisited the idea with something more effective and call them "Instead."

Indeed cc1972 is right. I too put a pillow under my hips after 'u know what', and it worked! The very first night me and my partner 'tried' to get pregnant it actually worked...lucky some might think..(i thought it woz very lucky)...sadly it followed in a m/c. But i am doing exactly the same now as im ttc again! Good luck to all TTC and here's hopin we all get a BFP very soon :)

I just got my BFP third month trying after m/c and d&c. This month was the second cycle I used clomid "lowest dose" and the first month we used "preseed". I use opks and time sex i.e. "sperm meets egg plan". I also take several supplements, prenatal vitamin, extra folic acid, extra iron, low dose aspirin, fish oil and calcium. I also restrict caffeine. HTH!!!
SSBD!!!

You know, maybe this is too naive for this forum, but my doctor suggested just bd-ing every other day. Many of my friends have gotten pregnant with this plan as well (I'm 18 wks along now). No technology or testing - just try to relax and have fun with it. That's what we did and I got pregnant the third month of trying. To be honest, sometimes we didn't feel like it and then it was less fun than it could be (because we felt like we HAD to). But I have a feeling that if I had been more into the science of it, we might have felt more pressure and stress when we knew the time was "right", and then it may not have worked out.

You are right. Instead soft cups were indeed originally intended as an alternative to tampons and pads. They are soft flexible, latex-free cups that fit around the cervix to catch and hold menstrual flow "instead" of absorbing it.  And I used them for that purpose successfully for several years before ttc.  I have very heavy periods, sometimes with larger than average clots that tampons and pads just couldn't handle.  However, I had read several online stories of women who successfully used them in their ttc efforts, similar to the way that "cervical cups" are used to hold semen in contact with the cervix for longer.  For a couple dealing with low sperm count, or in my case not able to remain laying down cause I worked graveyard or who just find it uncomfortable to lay still with your hips elevated for even short periods of time, it seemed to make sense.  And apparently it did work for me.

Thanks for the responses ladies I'm sure my DH and I will have lots of fun trying them out - well some more than others I think ;)  Its good to know that threw the sadness of mc that there is still hope there.

I have been tracking my ovulation with OPK's, but seem to be misfiring a lot.  I have been keeping my DH slightly out of the loop so there's no pressure as he is unaware when ovulation time is for me so if we fancy BD then its because we want to not because its the time we should do! I may start tracking my temp too as have BD on ovulation and no BFP yet.  I'm in the UK and can't seem to find the 'cups', but they may be under a different brand here so will keep looking.

KarenDiane I'm not that keen on avocado will an avocado face mask do!!! :D

Wishing lots of SSBD to all those still ttc and thanks again x

Drink a lot of water and try to relax!

I conceived my current pregnancy (30 weeks now) while on a trip to Yellowstone this summer. I was still carefully monitoring my ovulation with my digital monitor and doing my 'homework' every month but after 3 miscarriages -it had been 10 months since my last miscarriage- and at age 40, I was not optimistic about my chances of conceiving. But I was ultra relax on this trip, I ovulated at the end of the trip and it just happened!
