Anybody prescribed baby aspirin?

Hello, are any of you taking baby aspirin?

I have not yet received any results back from the blood work at the fertility clinic (mmm, I wonder how long it will take), and I have to go in on Christmas Eve for cycle monitoring Day 10 (fun stuff).

In the meantime, because I've m/c twice in the past (which is why I'm at said fertility clinic), my Dr. told me he'll be putting me on progesterone as soon as I conceive.  And I should begin taking baby aspirin right away.

So I popped my 81mg of baby aspirin tonight and I read that it's not recommended for people who are prone to bleeding. (I'm prone to bleeding a lot on my AF?!) Or pregnant women. Of course, I've heard about taking baby aspirin for pregnant women who have clotting issues. But does it make sense for me to take it if my blood test results haven't come back yet?  I guess a part of me is a bit concerned because once again, I'm reading conflicting things on the web - ie - that taking aspirin during conception can actually contribute to a miscarriage (but maybe this is adult dose)?

Happy Holidays!

I too had to take baby aspirin due to clotting in my placenta. I had three consecutive miscarriages before my doctor figured out what the problem was!! I finally had my son, who is now 3 1/2 years old and trying to conceive again!

I too had two mc in the past year. My blood work revealed that my blood clotted really really fast. My Dr put me on 81mg baby aspirin and prenatal vitamins. Two months after last mc we got pregnant. I am now 23 weeks pregnant. I was a lil skeptical also, but it worked. Good luck to you.

Everyone wants to cover themselves--legally--so most sources say "don't take aspirin if you're pg."  However, this generally applies to FULL doses of aspirin and NOT low-dose (aka, baby) aspirin.  I have 2 clotting disorders, am taking low-dose aspirin and I'm now 23w pg.  I've had 3 healthy pgs and 2 m/c's BEFORE the diagnosis and the aspirin.  Also, if low progesterone is an issue, you may want to consider taking the progesterone from 2dpo instead of waiting until you get a BFP.  I was on Prometrium from 2dpo and through my 1st trimester this time around, but also took it after my BFP for my previous 3 pgs (1st and 3rd of which ended in m/c).

I also had 2 m/c before conceiving my dd.  My clotting tests all came back fine.  For my dd I was on baby aspirin, tons of folic acid, prometrium 4 days after trigger, as well as metformin for the first trimester.

Baby aspirin is safe when TTC.  I took it through the first trimester and my baby was/is fine (11 months old now).  I also took 200mg prometrium and probably 3g of folic acid.  What I read was that synthetic progesterone is what is not safe during pregnancy but prometrium is the natural form and it is safe for pregnant women.  (My dh is a pharmacist and thinks they just put those stickers on the bottle to cover themselves)  My RE said I could quit the prometrium at 8 weeks but I was paranoid and kept taking it until 10 weeks with no problems whatsoever.  Good luck - I hope it works for you!  It is a bummer to take a bunch of pills but I was willing to do anything to get my little honey and it worked for me!!

I too have been tested for clotting disorders, and so far all is fine.  And I also am on baby asprin.  There is a theory that it can help build up the uterane lining, and as my OB says, it can't hurt anything.  It would seem its a pretty common thing for RE's and OB's to prescribe those of us who have had multiple miscarriages.

When you read up on prometrium, you'll fine it also says that its not recommended for pregnant women...yet so many of us take that as well.  Its all very confusing, and I questioned much of it as well.

You definately don't want to take regular asprin during pregnancy (if you need to take something, tylenol is recommended).  I guess the baby asprin is such a low dose, it doesn't hurt anything?

I can't wait to hear your test results!!  I have a feeling things are going to work out just fine for you!!
