My secretary was trying to have a baby for more than 2 years. Finally she started taking metformin only at 500 mg/Day and was pregnant in 3 months and now has a healthy girl.
The key with metformin is to start very slowly.
This drug is also only of benefit for women who have PCOS / insulin resistance contributing to their reduced infertility.

Did you take those medication per your doctor's description?
And second question, I am trying to get pregnant. The last period, I saw my cervical mucus looked as egg white, my breast swollen and tender. I had my period four days later. Does this mean my ovulation was only a few days before my period?
Metformin was a nightmare for me at first: I started with 500mg a day for a coupole of weeks, then 1000mg for a couple of weeks, and finally up to 1500. Initially I tried to increase after just a few days at each level, and this made me dreadfully ill. And I mean--DREADFULLY nauseous, dizzy, tired. If you search under "Metformin" on this site you will probably see when I posted the same question.
I did become pregnant after the first month, although I also used Follistim and Femara for the first time that month also. However, Metformin alone has been proven to work, so try to give it a bit of time. If it is still too bothersome after a couple of weeks at the same level, talk to your doc.
Best wishes!
Thanks ladies! It's so hard sometimes! I wish there was some sort of magical reading that would tell you exactly what you need to take to get you pregnant! It certainly helps to hear success stories though. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Hi there - Metformin can be a bit rough on your stomache but it can also work very quickly! Stick with it!! I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance and tried to conceive naturally for almost 18months with no success. WE had also been off b/c for 5 years and not fallen pregnant either. 8 months with a chiropracter and on my 3rd month I fell pregnant for the first time. I am now just a few weeks away from giving birth to our first born - a son...
Metformin pays off and it actually will ease off on how it makes you feel after a little while also.
Best of luck to you and have faith in Met!!

it is really rough on your stomach to start off with, but you get used to it & it gets better over time. I was up to 1500mg daily when I conceived last time and stayed on it (along w/ progesterone) for the 1st trimester - now, after 4 mc, I have a beautiful baby girl who is 4 weeks old!!
stick with it - there is a reason you were put on it!
