I've had depression/anxiety on and off most of my life but haven't had it too bad in a few years. However, now that I'm pregnant, it is coming back? I know it's hormones, etc. I'm not thinking anything sadDepression. I couldn't even go to work yesterday and today I forced myself. The OB is aware since I've had a history and since it's only been 2 days in a row I'm not alarmed. I am, however, frustrated and mad because I don't want to stress out the baby. I dont' want to go on meds either. Any tips on how to pull out of it?
i feel the exact same way. ive suffered with bi polar and manicBipolar disorder depression since a teen now im 37. if you want to talk i think it may help. us both maybe.
i think if you have had a history of anxiety/depression, pregnancy would definitely make a difference in the symptoms. my 12 year old suffers with this and i do notice a difference around her period, so i would think pregnancy could make it even worse. i know you don't want to take meds, but don't discount the help it could give you, i am sure a doctor wouldn't give you anything not safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex in pregnancy. you shouldn't have to suffer.
No other med is as safe as Wellbutrin during pregnancy, but there is no evidence they are harmful either. It's just sort of an unknown. My doc said if things get bad, it's better to take meds because freaking out is much worse for the baby than the meds probably would be. I don't think they'd want you to take them until after the 1st trimester though.
For me, I've just tried to take my ipod with me and listen to relaxing music, take warm baths, and allow myself to cry on DH's shoulder. I've also just found talking with friends and DH helps. We're in the midst of trying to buy a house right now, so I'm VERY stressed, and this pregnancy has been hard on me so far. I feel your pain!
Thanks. I'm better today. Just bad for two days. I read that 9 weeks = horrible emotions so maybe it was "normal" but seeing I'm predispositioned, there is always a concern. I'm sure DH going to Vegas for a bachelor party isn't helping (grrrr).
best wishes sinster
