BETA numbers

I am going for my first BETA tomorrow (14 days post retrieval in IVF) and I would like to know what is considered a good first HCG BETA number?

You are considered pregnant is your hcg is above 5 but most ob's want to see beta above 50, I think.  There is no magic # that is considered a "good" beta since we all are so different.  The important thing is that your beta increases.  The first level is not very important.  If your beta is really high, above 200, that would be an indication that you may be having multiples.  However, I know someone with 1000 first beta who has a singleton.  Like I said, we are all different.
Good luck to you tomorrow!!!!

Hi,  Mine was 53 and then kept doubling.  I'm 43 and did IVF also and got very lucky with it working on the first try.  Keep us posted!

Ditto what everyone else said.  The range for beta hcg is huge, and can be anywhere from like 10 to 500 (not the exact numbers, but you get the idea.)  They will usually do two tests, 48 to 72 hours apart, and they look for the number to double.  Thats the important thing.

Best of luck to you!!

Nikaya, many many women bleed during first trimester, and it turns out to be nothing to worry about.  I know its scary, but try not to worry, I am sure baby is doing just fine.  Getting a heartbeat is such a milestone, so congrats to you as well.
