Bleeding after 3 HPT's?

Hello everyone.
I went today for a blood test and won't get the results until Monday and I am concerned and a bit anxious. I was due to start my period on Sept 8 but the week before that I started having heartburn after everything I ate or drank, sore breasts for about 2 weeks before that (still sore now), and nauseated from morning til night, and a bit of insomnia. I took a pregnancy test on the 6th that came back positive, this was just the cheap Walmart brand because I really didnt think I would be pregnant. I had tubal ligation reversal surgery in March and we have been trying for 6 months now. On the 8th I started spotting some, a brownish color, pretty light but enough that it scared me, so I took another test, positive again. I still had the same brownish stuff the next day until I took a shower then for about 20 minutes I had some spotting that was like red water, not really the consistency of blood. So I went and got a different brand test, took it later afternoon and positive again. I had my blood test this morning, most of the brownish spotting had stopped, until I showered again, then it was a darker red. I am scared to death now that this was just all in my head or something or that I am having a miscarriage. I have had some pain but it was more like an ache, all across my pelvic area and down my legs, but no real cramps..I usually get them extremely bad the first day of my period. Has anyone else had problems like this or have any encouragement to get me through til Monday? I normally wouldn't post here but my husband is in the Army and out of town and I don't want to worry him unnecessarily.

Congrats!!!

Chinesebones is correct.  It's virtually impossible to pinpoint exact moment of conception, so they start counting first day of last period.  An HCG of 100 is just fine right now...those numbers are a guidline only and honestly, I drove myself insane trying to interpret them.  Don't do that to yourself.  They are only 1 tool Dr.s use to determine pregnancy viability.  Chances are your OB will order a second set and what they are looking for is an increase - they want it to app. double in about 48 to 72 hours.  If the number has decreased it is a strong indicator that the pregnancy is not viable.  Right now there is every reason to believe all is well...hold onto that!  Spotting is so common, and also doesn't mean anything. Believe it or not, despite what you hear, implantation bleeding is rare.  For the most part they don't know why some women bleed, but they do know the reasons vary..sometimes they can sort out why, other times it remains a mystery. You are pregnant!!  Yay!!!

Congratulations!
Doctors count pregnancy from your last period, not from conception, so 4 weeks pregnant means 2 weeks past conception.

yippeee, congratulations.  it might drive you nuts to figure out the gestational age on your own.... i'd leave that up to the professionals and just relax.  you got an hcg signal, so hang on to that and enjoy :)))
good luck with the pg and keep us posted :)))

Just finally called the doctors office for my test results (I am as impatient as they come!) and it showed my hcg at 100.5 which she said is aprox 4 weeks, further than I thought I was. After looking at the chart on hcg (http://www.*****************.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html) thats about right:
Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:

hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

    * 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
    * 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
    * 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
    * 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
    * 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
    * 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
    * 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
    * 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
    * 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
    * Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
    * Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

They are getting me the referral today to an obgyn since I dont have one here, so wish me luck! Im not sure the bleeding would have been implantation bleeding though because I would have conceived sometime between 08/23 and 08/26, but maybe Im wrong about the dates for the implantation bleeding? I had thought it was 2 weeks after but if my hcg was at just over 100 on 09/10 and I was 4 weeks, something is off?

I spotted and outright bled with my now 7 month old son.

You are most definately pregnant, this is not in your head.  No one has 3 positive HPT's....false negatives are not uncommon, but false positives are extremely rare, especially with pink dye tests.

There are many things that could be going on.  About 30% of women have spotting or bleeding during first trimester.  About 1/2 of those have completely normal pregnancies. It is always scary, trust me I know.  I was convinced I had miscarried my son so many times.  I won't lie to you...miscarriage can also start out this way. Typically though it gets heavier as time goes on, not lighter.

There are many things that can cause bleeding. In my case I had a hematoma (sp?) that bled out and had no impact whatsoever on my pregnancy.  Also, your cervix is very sensitive at this time and easily irritated.  Even sex can cause bleeding, amongst other things.  And for the most part, they just don't know what causes it.  But there is every chance it is going to be ok.

After this blood test, your Dr. should have you submit to one more in 2 -3 days.  In a perfect world, those HCG levels will double, or be close to doubling.  That is an excellent indication that all is well.  But other then that, it's a wait and see..I know, that is awful..I have been there.  Hang in there...you wil have answers soon.  In the meantime, I will keep you in my thoughts!!  Please let us know how you are doing!!

Thank you for your help. Like I said, I've never had any spotting or discomfort either, with my 2 previous pregnancies I didn't even have a clue I was pregnant until I was 3+ months along. After Friday night (9/10) most of my symptoms have even gone away except the full abdomen feeling and sore breasts, but still not a period and only light brownish bleeding that's barely even noticeable now. Hopefully the doctor calls early tomorrow! Just have a feeling that maybe I'm not pregnant, or I've convinced myself something happened...

hi-
i didn't experience the spotting personally both when i got pg and when i m/c.  but, some women in this forum had spotting when they got pg.  if you were expecting your period on 9-8 and didn't get the full flow and tested positive on hpt, then you are probably only a few weeks pregnant.  at this stage the discomfort you are feeling in your abdomen is probably due to implantation.  the embryo is trying to attach to your uterus which may also cause some spotting to some women.  i wouldn't be too alarmed that it is m/c.  a m/c at this stage will cause you to bleed a lot and not just spotting.
good luck and hang on to the 3 positive hpt's.
