Blood in Vomit? (EWW) and TMI)

Hey ladies...

I'm just curious if any of you have experienced this?  I am 17 weeks along, and I still throw up about 2 -3 times a week, always in the morning.  It's not due to nausea like it was early on, but from my gag reflex. I have a lot of drainage and when I get up I start coughing it up and it makes me puke. *sigh*

Anyway, for the last month or so, there has been blood in my vomit more often than not.  At first it was just small traces of bright red, and I thought it was from sinus drainage because my nose bleeds sometimes.  Lately there has been more blood, and it doesn't seem to really come up with the vomit (which is more like dry heaving in the morning anyway), but after I'm done, I cough a lot and it brings up blood.  I tend to spit pink for 30 minutes afterwards.

I thought maybe I had burst a small blood vessel in my esophagus from throwing up so hard awhile back, and it isn't healing because I keep throwing up.  I know I should consult the doctor, but she'll just make me come in, pay her the co-pay, listen to me tell her exactly what I told her on the phone, and then tell me it's probably sinuses! Hehe!

Anyhoo, today I just spit in the sink at work and it was bloody, but I noticed that my nose was bleeding too (allergies).

Thoughts on this very disgusting symptom?

Sheri

Oh!

I wondered if it was reflux, but I don't ever feel like I have reflux.  I've not had heartburn or acid or anything.  I've taken Prevacid before after I had gall bladder surgery and it was an awesome pill! I assume that's safe with baby then, eh?  I wonder if it's safe with Zofran?

I had the same thing. It turned out for me to be irritation of the esophagus from reflux and so they put me on Prevacid. Holy cow was that a miracle pill!! I didn't even realize how bad my reflux was until I took that and felt normal. It's best to tell your OB about it so it can be treated.
