Can't decide!

I circumcised my First son and feel so guilty for it. I did it because my husband wanted him to match. now I'm pregnant with another boy. I cannot decide whether to circumcise him or not.I don't like circumcision or its purpose but my husband wants to do it again so all the boys match. I feel as though if I don't do it that this baby will ask why he looks different his dad and brother. has anyone gone through this before?

You do not have to do it if you do not feel right about doing it ,  where I live most dr will not do it as they feel it is a unnecessary cosmetic procedure (Yes they consider it a cosmetic procedure) There is a select few drs that still do it but for a high fee as no one really needs to have it done. My sons were not done and have never had a issue or complication , my husband was also never done with no issue or complication. (none of my 8 nephews have had it done either with no issues or complications)  so go with what you think is best not what everyone else thinks is best.

I am a father of three boys and I myself wasn't circumcised by my parents (father's choice). At age 5 I got a terrible infection on the head of my penis from bacteria that got caught in the folds of the foreskin. My mom kept my private area clean the dr just said this is a common thing for uncircumcised men and boys. So i ended up getting circumcised at age 5 and was at did still is the post painful memory of my childhood still at the age of 34. No matter how clean you keep your little guys penis he could end up in the same boat as I did. So in my opinion I would have him corcucised.

If your only concern is them matching you should cross that out.  Boys and fathers do not compare weiners with each other.  All of them look different anyway especially if you are comparing a boy to a man!  I say make your decision without the argument or concern of matching.

The video was probably not the most visually appealing, but any semi medical video aren't the easiest to watch.  If you watched a labor video before pregnancy,  I'm sure that would make you question getting pregnant too... It would me.  Lol Whatever you do, don't beat yourself up!  We as parents have too much to worry about as is... just trust you will make the right decision!  Your oldest son doesn't think about it and survived it jist fine right?!  Relax momma!  :)

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with it and its actually better to do it early! Meaning after birth its best to do it right away so the baby able to pee better! And u won't have a problem to do it later! Ask your gynecologist about it why should be done and so on so u can understand what benefit for baby boy health wise! Am just saying!

Well I did some research and came across videos of the procedure.  It's so horrible to watch. This made me freak out even more. Now I'm feeling guilt and stressed. I can't get the videos out of my head.

Mcani, u and I r in the same boat!  I feel the exact same way.  However, if my husband really truly wants our baby to get circumcised even with all the research (I told him to make an informed decision, not simply so baby will look like daddy, that is not informed) I will reluctantly agree.  It is much more work to take care of a circumcised penis when the baby is small and if done correctly, there will be no complications.  But at the same time I feel that the foreskin of the penis is there for a REASON and I would have no trouble explaining to our boy that we left him intact as all baby boys r born with it and that's how penises r SUPPOSED to look like.

Neither of my nephews were and my sister and her husband didnt clean them properly so they got infections and had to be done at four and three years old. It was horrible, the refused to go potty and when they did they screamed..... other nephew done at birth and had no issues with healing or anything. If my baby is a boy we will be getting him circumcised

I did it with my 18 yr old and this boy will be done as well, my close friend had twins one got a bad infection and had to be done at 13 yrs old it was awful for him.  But she ended up doing them both.

I was having the same issue with deciding whether or not to with my son. I did a lot of research and talked to the pediatrician about it. He's less likely to develop STDs, certain penile cancers, infections, etc. Plus it's cleaner and easier to take care of. So we've decided that we're going to have him circumcised. I don't like that he's going to be in pain but he won't remember it and it'll be better for him.

Whatever you decide is completely up to you... but I will say this, I have worked in the medical field for over a decade now and once people reach a certain age, it is much harder for them to keep up on proper hygiene.   I know we tend to think of our kids through adulthood, but we can't forget to think of them beyond that and into their elderly stage... the amount of infections that occur later on in life from not being circumcised is just something I think we need to consider.

Ive got two boys and three girls.  My boys arebboth done and 11 wks again if this is a boy I'll do it again. Its a lot easier now then later. Ive known ppl their sons were donecat 13 bcuz religion and it was horrible then for them. Also have nurses in the family have sais a lot cleaner irs not just proper hygiene like ppl think. Yes that helps but still more chances of issues kids picking on them msny reasons id not not do it. But this us also my decision. :) u have to really do sone investigation work see what's best for you and yoyr baby and dont let anyone make u feel bad what YOU CHOOSE good luck:)
