Chemical PregnancyafterIUI/Overdrelshot/clomid

by BabyLO70, May 07, 2008 05:19PM
Hi
I just went through my second IUI, overdrill shot and first clomid round on April 18...2WW and on May 3 I checked with HPT and BFN, then tested 3 more times with a BFP..I went to my RE to confirm today and he told me that my Beta HCG levels were .1. A negative Beta test...He thinks my AF will start soon and when it does I am on a second round with the Clomid and a Third round for Overdrill and IUI. Has anyone been through a this before? My sis said it was a "Chemicial Pregnancy" she has had it twice before..now she is on Baby#2...So, I hope I can go to full time soon.

Has anyone been through this before....I feel so depressed....help......

Yes, I have had this before.  I had 4 IUI's. The first one-I took Letrozole (Femara), trigger shot and IUI 24 hours later.  I became pregnant-my HCG never went above 29 and then it went back to zero.  My doctor said it was a chemical pregnancy.  He said that it is very common and that a lot of women have them and they just think their period is a few days late.  For those of us on the infertility cycles-we are so in tune on when to test we actually realize we are pregnant and than aren't anymore.  My 2nd and 3rd IUI's did not end in pregnancy and I was ready to move to IVF.  My doctor likes to do at least 6 IUI's before moving on.  I am happy to let you know that with our 4th IUI, I did become pregnant and I am 39 weeks today.  Please don't give up.  I was really down and ready to quit and I am so glad now that I didn't.  It will work for you.  I am sorry for your loss.  My doctor did stress to me as well, that a chemical pregnancy is a loss nonetheless and that it is quite normal to grieve.  Good luck!

I've had 3 IUIs.  First ended in ectopic pg, 2nd was BFN and the 3rd was BFP.  My son is now 12wks old.  hang in there.  Even tho your chem pg might not seem like a success, it really was.  You were successful at getting pg so it is likely that you will again.

Good luck.
