Common question, I know...Implantation Bleeding...

I've been reading about implantation bleeding all over the internet and seem to get different answers wherever I look; My husband and I have been trying to concieve for a few months (we were just married in November 08) (I'm 35 and he's 48, I'm not sure if this is a factor or not) anyway, My cycle is usually like clockwork; especially after I've been tracking my cycles - and we did have sex during ovulation (I even did the ovulation tests to make sure); and this month I was due on the 13th but started VERY LIGHT spotting on evening of the 10th and it went away by morning; we had sex the very next morning and I started cramping and spotting a little bit heavier by the afternoon on the 11th; and by that evening it was almost as heavy as my perioud usually is; and it lasted up until mid day of the 14th (med-heavy bleeding for about 3 days) then stoppped all together and today it started lightly again. I've taken pregnancy tests and they've been negative. I've read that the color is important to know; which in my case, the color started pink, turned brown and went to a reddish-pink when the flow was medium to heavy, now it's a pinkish color again. Could this be implanation bleeding? Is there still a chance I'm pregnant? When is the best time to take a pregnancy test again if it is possible? I've definitely experienced some of the symptoms they say are common with pregnancy; my breasts are a little tender, but have definitely gotten heavier (they feel like someone put weights in them);  and I've been getting headaches out of the blue, definitely had the motionsickness everytime I'm riding in the car - I feel like I'm pregnant, but it could be my mind playing tricks on me because of wishful hoping! If someone knows or has experienced this, please let me know - I would really like to know what is going on with my body; I will go to see my doctor next week for reassurance, but I'm just anxious to know if anyone has any thoughts on this until I can get in to see him.

Implantation bleeding isn't as common as the internet makes it....and it for some reason this would happen to you....it would be about 5 days after you ovulated or fertilization occurred.  You would see an itty bitty speck of blood probably on TP and that would be it.    It is caused from the fertilzed egg implanting into the uterus.   I mean think of the cell size and how much blood it could cause...not much.....  I don't know why it's called bleeding...it should be called a speck of blood.

Try using digital OPK kits...you get a smiley face when it's positive.

And since you're 35.....not sure how close to 36...you will see that it is harder to get pregnant.   So don't be suprised if it takes a while.  They suggest getting professional help after 6 months and off TTC.

Hello!  I know what you mean about conflicting information on the internet.  It seems like everyone has their own interpretation of implantation bleeding and everything thing else under the sun!.  From what I know (because I had implantation bleeding), Implantation bleeding is often brown, pink or red in color. Implantation happens when the fertilzed egg (called a blastocyst, a cluster of tiny cells, smaller than the head of a pin) completes its travel through the fallopian tube and attaches to the lining of the uterus. Implantation happens about a week (range 6-12 days give or take) after ovulation. Most women report at most a few drops of blood -- maybe one to two small red or brown spots in the panties, bleeding similar to a menstrual period is unlikely implantation bleeding.  I had implantation bleeding about 12 days after I ovulated.  The spotting from implantation usually lasts only a couple days (if that). A few days after I was done spotting I took a HPT and it was positive.  Also, a very small percentage (I don't know the number) of women actually experience implantation bleeding.  The majority of the women that do see any kind of spotting (pinkish/red/brownish) in color, it is usually an indication of your period approaching.  Hope this helps!  Best of luck to you.

Hi, I don't know if this will answer your question but I will try. I was researching implantation bleeding too and got the same scattered answers as you. I guess because everyone is different and not all women experience it. I was due for my period on the 11th. I started very light spotting on the 3rd. It only was there when I wiped, didn't need to use anything. This went on for 8 days, the only time is was more than just light was after intercourse. No red blood at all!! I took a hpt on the 11th, the day my period was actually due and it was negative. I had a day or two after that with the spotting again just once or twice each day. I started using an ovulation kit and the line got a little darker each day but still no peak. I could probably take another hpt because I still haven't had an actual period but I don't like the disappointment everytime. I just turned 40 yesterday and I feel like my body is letting me down. I have 3 children that I got pregnant for too easily and now that I am actually planning this one it isn't happening. I really thought mine was implantation bleeding too but it doesn't appear that is the case. Your doctor would be the best one to tell you after a checkup. I don't think it could have been if you actuallly had some heavy bleeding like a period. They say it is only light pink and/or brownish. It is usually only a light discharge. I hope this helped a little. If anyone else has a better answer, I'd like to know too. It is so frustrating!!  Good Luck to you and let me know how you make out!!
