I hate to say it but if you suffer severely then you have to be your main priority as the damage you could do to you both if you just stop meds could be catastrophic. You need to see your Dr and counsellor if you have one and get their opinions. If you don't have a counsellor then now is the time as if you do cut or change your meds, you could well need an understanding ear during pregnancy. (I half wish I had someone myself and I've not had it bad in a few years but the emotional chaos due to hormones is driving me close to depression again)
Do not just stop taking anything. That's not safe mama. Having symptoms of untreated mental illness is not a good option. I take Risperdal for mood stability and was okayed by a fetal medicine specialist to continue while pregnant. Talk with your drs about the best course of action. There is stuff you can take.
I agree, don't stop taking anything for a severe condition if you are pregnant without first discussing it with your doctor who prescribed the meds and your ob-gyn. If necessary, ask for a referral to a high-risk ob-gyn.
They could get worse especially if you are not being treated.
Talk to a high risk dr about options that you have - in some cases you can remain on current meds because benefit may outweigh any risks, you may be asked to reduce the amount of meds you are on, you may be put in entirely differently meds, or you may be asked to try going completely med-free. It's best to talk to your dr BEFORE you get pregnant because if a change in meds is required, it is best to see how you respond in the absence of pregnancy
I stopped my anxiety and bipolar depression med when 4 weeks preg. I did very well up until now I'm 23 weeks..I have been trying to be more mindful, read the boards for support and keep busy with work, not wanting to get back on meds until after delivery
