Dilated fetal kidneys - disappeared

by GermanBaby, Mar 06, 2009 10:30AM
Four weeks ago I found out that my baby had moderate to severly dialted kidneys - 12mm and 13mm. The U/S today shows that the kidneys are now normal. The doctor was surprised it happened so quickly so I get another one in 4 weeks to make sure. All I can say is that "daily visualization therapy" works at shrinking kidneys ;-) It might all be just in my head but....

So glad to hear that. My second oldest had kidney problems too. When I was 5 months they found on the U/S that he had only one kidney...very scary for a boy.
They started to prepare me for all of the "bad" things that were "probably" going to happen. After he was born (5lbs 4 oz...full term) they did more testing and found that the second kidney was there, but it had either never grown or was just collapsed.
That little boy had the biggest bladder to make up for that kidney. He was by far the easiest to potty train lol.
By the time he was 3 years old the kidney that was shrunken had finally caught up.
That tiny little boy is now 17, and he's very big and healthy.
Hope the next one shows good for you too.
