Duphaston supplement

Hi,
I had a normal conception and went to a gyanec who was more a fertility specialist. Perhaps because of this - he put me on Duphaston 10 mg thrice a day and a pessary of 100mg Progesterone also 3 times a day. i just felt this was completely over the top. I started with twice a day (instead of thrice) and then gradually petered it off to zero. All this in the 5th-6th week of pregnancy

I am worried that this may have caused some problems . Could it have ? I read soem scary stuff about Duphaston and am really quite worried now. What surprises me is the gynaec I went to is among the best known in S'pore (where I live) and if he prescribed sucha  heavy dosage I suppose he knew what he was doing.....or was he? Woudl be grateful for your opinion ( just in case you need to know - there was no blood test done to check my levels of progesterone).

many thanks,
Madhuri

First off, congratulations on your pregnancy.  I am not really familiar with the drugs you mentioned, except progesterone.  I am going on that because of a history of m/c.  Is that the case with you as well?  I am a bit surprised he put you on it without testing your levels first, although, my understanding is that "extra" progesterone certainly won't hurt you or the baby.  I understand your feelings, I am always leery to take meds unless I understand them thoroughly.  Was there a pre existing health condition or anything?  I am not sure I would just have stopped taking them, but I would definately question the Dr.

Sorry, probably not totally helpful, but I do wish you luck and a happy healthy pregnancy.
