Ectopic or not...Please help.

Hi, I am really dead scared because of my situation. Here it is...

1. My periods are very irregular and last time I had periods was 24th of August.
2. On 12th of Dec. I did EPT and it was faint positive. On 14th I did again and it was better positive. Finally on 17th it was quite positive.
3. Since I did not have periods in Sep and Oct with Negative EPT, I asked doctor for an early checkup to make sure things are OK.
4. I am having a little swelling and very mild cramping for last 3 weeks. It was more a week back and this week its very mild.
5. I am pretty sure my conception date is 23-25th of Nov.
6. Yesterday that is on 17th Dec. doctor did an internal U/S and could not see any sac in uterus. He did not see any cycst in overies, cervix or abdomen too. But no sac either...however he did see some thickening in the uterus.
7. So far no bleeding, dizziness or fatigue.

My worries:

1. Looking at my conception date it makes me 5 weeks gestational (Is it right?). Should I worry a lot for not seeing sac in the uterus or is it normal? Doctor says it could be because its too early to look for it or you have already misscaried. So far I haven't seen any bleeding but he says that eventually it will happen and I will think of it as a period.

2. He is also considering ectopic pregnancy. Other than mild cramps and a little swelling in lower abdomen I have no other symptoms. Could it still be ectopic?

3. I had very sore breasts to start with but now they are not that sore...is it normal?

What are the chances that I am miscarrying, having an ectopic or a normal pregnancy based on above data? I am really scared and desperately want my baby...any help will be appreciated.

I had a situation similar to yours as well.  i had known exactly how far along i was.  i had a bit of spotting so the dr followed my hcg levels and w/ ultrasound found nothing.  based on those two things they had concluded i had an ectopic.  there was something in my tube but too small to confirm an ectopic.  it is still early but keep close follow up w/ your dr.  i was persistent about having hcg done because i knew something was wrong....they originally had wanted me to wait it out until my 8 week appt.  Thank god I didnt...i might not have saved my tube.  just stay on top of things.  :)  best wishes.

At 5wks2d we saw a sac, yolk and a very tiny fetal pole.  

If I remember correctly, I think my spotting was between the 4th and 5th week.  Like AshelyMom, my hcg was low and rose slowely.  My first hcg was taken at almost 5wks and it was only 254 and at 6wks it was right around 1000.  They never did see the embryo in the tube, but since it wasn't in the uterus they knew it was ectopic.  In the end they were right because the methotrexate shots didn't work for me, and at 8wks pg my tube ruptured.    

I wouldn't get to worked up at this point tho.  I think for you it is still really early.  With this pg, I did have dull ache on my side and was so scared it was another ectopic but dr told me it was from the corpus luteum.  Good luck.. pleaase let us know how your dr appts go.

With my ectopic, I didn't have any signs except that my HCG was REALLY low, like 8 the first day they did a blood test.  I still got a very faint positive on HPT.  The levels just increased really slowly.  I did not have spotting, pain or anything.

With one preg, which unfortunately ended in MC, they did not see a sac at around 6 weeks, and my levels were pretty low.   A sac appeared at 7 weeks but it was measuring 4 weeks.

- Did they see sac at 5wk2d?
- I could be anywhere between 4wk3d to 5wk1d.
- Monday I will get comparative results of my HCG and probably Tuesday I will go for another u/s.
- Exactly when did you have spotting with ectopic...I mean 5, 6, 7 or 8th week?

I am sorry for all these questions...they might remind you of your loss but I really need to know.

I think it is still early.  I was high risk for ectopic because I had already had one.  I got pg through IUI so my conception date was known.  Dr did my first u/s at 5wk2d to check for sac in uterus.  If you are between 4 and 5 wks pg it is probably too early to see anything.  

When do you go in for another u/s?

When I had my ectopic.  I didn't have any pain, but I did have some light spotting that lasted for about 3 or 4 days.
