Extremely tired

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and 35 yrs old. I have three children  from a previous relationship, 14 yrs, 13yrs and 9 yrs and take care of them fulltime. I am extremely happy about having a baby. But its been a long time since my last pregnancy. I also work full time in a demanding job as well. My partner lives and works away, this will be his first baby so we are very excited.  The thing is I knew that I get really fatigued from pregnancy in the past but I am extremely fatigued now. Home and work seems to get affected.  I have bad headaches as well,  and I have all the other great symptoms of pregnancy.  I am in good spirits but this tiredness is really bothering me. Any tips to help. I take supplements etc what else can I do.

I had same issue. My iron was so low they sent me for iron infusions 1x week for 4 weeks. My insurance coverred most, but since I have a $1,000.00 deductible, I did pay $100.00 toward each session. Your Dr. can and should run blood work, and if you are abemic, should recommend iron supplement.

Iron supplements should be taken on empty stomach with a bit of Orange juice or a vitamin C tablet. Do not take with milk, multi vitamins, or calcium. Calcium is prohibitive to absorption whereas Vitamin C helps absorption. Look for brands that use the term "Gentle" Iron as these are less constipation than others.

Eat healthy non processed foods!

Are you drinking plenty of fluids? Dehydration might play a part in your fatigue as well.

You could ask your doctor to check your iron levels. The extreme fatigue could be anemia. I know I had extreme fatigue with both pregnancies and it took almost 22 weeks for it to go away.

39 and pregnant with baby number 3.  Being tired is #1 symptom.  I'm 16 weeks pregnant and was hoping to feel more energy during my 2nd trimester.  I let the dishes and laundry pile up too.  Naps are not an option because I have a 3 year old.  But I sleep when she sleeps which is around 9 to 11 hours.  SAHM. first pregnancy that I did not work outside the home.  It's easier in that I can sleep in with my daughter.  But not having a social life outside of the home is a bit hard.  Working mom's are amazing.  SAHM ' are just as amazing.

Same here...3 children..6 weeks pregnant and I will be 35 next month. I have slept so much in the past few weeks I feel like a bear in hibernation. Between my, husband, kids, work and school I have given myself permission to slack off.. pregnancy is a task within itself. Take a load off because we both know you will be trying to buy sleep when the baby comes:-)
