Feel the baby.

by ajduck, Nov 03, 2009 10:59AM
This is my second child after 11 years, so I am trying to remember some things.
Nothing like a long gap there. I am 18 1/2 weeks along.

I have felt movement here and there for a couple of weeks. Friday, I had my hand on my stomach and felt a very distinct hard area where everywhere else was soft. My husband, daughter, and mother-in-law felt it too. Is it possible we really felt the baby this early. I was still thinking it would be a few weeks.

I am 20w today and have felt the baby for 3 weeks now, sometimes they are just flutters but last week I could feel a couple of very distinctive movements, my husband could feel it too :) So, in my experience it is not too early. Have a happy pregnancy!

Girl, I have the same age gap.  I have a set of twins that will be 11 years old when my 2nd set of twins is born.  Yes, you read right I am having another set of twins.  I was wondering the same thing too.  I am 11 wks and I could swear that I feel like flutters here and there and it's not all of the time.  Over the weekend I felt flutters but not so much anymore.  I hope everything is ok.  I feel good though.  I still think it's too early to feel them anyway.  Like you I can't really remember the last time b/c it was so long ago.  I have to go to the Maternal, Fetal, Medicine doc on Thursday morning so they could check the back of the babies heads to make sure that the babies are developing normally.  I am nervous about that.  Well, good luck and have a great pregnancy.

I have the same age gap also. I have an 11 year old and a 2 month old. It was like starting ALL over.

Anyhow this time around I felt movement at 14 or 15 weeks so no it's not too early. Second time moms feel movement earlier than first timers because you know what it is and don't mistake it for gas.

I'm 20 wks now and I think that the flutters I've been feeling since 17 wks are the baby moving, because they're way down low. I don't think it's too early at all. I notice that sometimes at night, there is kind of a hard spot on one side of my tummy, that I have just been assuming was the baby. Sometimes my belly even looks lopsided, like he's all moved over to one side.

Congrats and enjoy! My dear friend has twins who are now 11 and just had a baby girl. They are all enjoying the new baby so much!
