GONAL- F

Hi, I have not seen any questions related to GONAL-F? Has anyone had any success using GONAL-F. My Dr. has me on this due to just turning 43. (no children) I had a MC in July and he feels I can try for a few months but he is really pushing egg donor, which I do not have an issue with but my significant other (of 8 years 2 MC) wants our own. If only it was that easy! Third months on Gonal and was worried but "thank you" to all... I have a renewed FAITH after reading the stories and all the support! Thank You. If anyone has experience I would appreciate - BTW: my Dr. told us last month he would not do our IUI b/c we are not married. :) I feel like I am trying to fight an uphill battle. Good thing I have a very strong faith. (he must have a different GOD then the one I pray too)

They want me to use 10,000 units of Gonal-f, I heard thats really high and mighty expensive..They say I'm fertile evan at 43 but Wow, that seems crazy high

Different people respond very differently to the same drug.  I used Gonal-F and responded well.  Make sure you are being monitored closely so that you know how many follicles you are producing.  Your dr can't put you on Gonal-F w/o u/s monitoring.  That would be just negligent.

I used Gonal F 2 cycles can't remember the details.. had 3 follicles the second round/ iui and now have a daughter that is 7.. good luck!!

I got pg three times after the age of 40 using Gonal-f.Your doc has an opinion wether you should be married to your partner or not?That sounds veeery weird to me.Wish you great luck!

Femara is similar to Clomid but apparently has less side effects.  I was on Gonal F 150 units, day 6-9 then trigger shot (Ovidrel) day 10 with IUI day 11 and 12.

I agree with Ecologic.  If IUI is indicated it shouldn't matter!  I'd find another DR as well!

I had 2 Follistim IUIs (same as Gonal) a few years ago, unfortunately it did not work for me.  But Gonal/IUI is considered the best protocol if you don't want/can't do IVF, so stay hopeful!! (For an IVF they use Gonal as well, more concentrated)

As for your doctor, he has no right to forbid you to do an IUI with your partner, if I were you I would immediately shop for an other doctor!!

What is Fermara? I have also been taking the Ovidrel but not Fermara? How long did they do the IUI from when you took the Ovidrel? Mine was 36 hrs. Also, how much GONAL - F are you taking. I have been on 150IU but after reading the insert they stated anyone over 35+ should be on 225IU. Any thoughts? BTW: GOOD LUCK!

I was Gonal F for the first time last cycle - it was combined with Femara, trigger shot (Ovidrel) and IUI.  I'm still in the TWW, but should find out if it worked on Friday!!! Will let you know!
