Gender Question?

Has anyone had an ultrasound at 14w and been given the gender of their baby and it be accurate? I have a friend that works at a dr. office and she said that at 14w they do ultrasound for gender only. I want to get it done but how accurate will be anyone know?

14 weeks is too early. The earliest gender test I know of is at 16 weeks and we did a 4D and found out we were having a boy. I wouldn't trust an ultrasound prior to 16 weeks for gender determination

You can buy a gender test in pharmacies that is supposed to give you the gender early. It's named Intellitest I think, I do not know how reliable it is. Ask about it at RiteAid or Wallgreens!

It can sometimes be accurate but much less so than later in the pregnancy.  There is a nub that males and females have and the angle of the nub (in relation to the spine) can identify gender (boys angle up about 30 degrees and girl numbs are flat).  The ultrasound tech has to be well trained and even then, their guesses could be just that - guesses.  If you want to be certain, it is safer to wait until later (around 19 weeks).

Not very often. At 14 weeks often the fetus isn't large enough to get an accurate guess. It of course is a 50/50 chance, but you have a better chance of waiting till your 20 week scan and trying then.
