HCG/Progesterone Level

My HCG level came back 8000 which they said  was slightly low for 5 weeks, 4 days.  Looks like the avg is 11000.  My progesterone was 14 which was good.  The doctor said she would have been happy with 10 but 20 would have been great so 14 is decent, well within range.

Has anyone else had a lower HCG?  What was your experience with this.  Not sure how to interpret this number.

Just started with this group but it feels so depressing.  Because of my age, they just seem so cautious, almost apprehensive.  I'm 44.

UPDATE:  All is well!!! They saw the embryo, yolk and gestational sac.  They are dating me at 6 weeks.  Next week, they will listen for the heart beat.

The dr tonight said the HCG level was a decent range and didn't seem concerned.

She asked like the first doctor was it planned, they all sound almost surprised that I got pregnant naturally.

Thank you guys!!!  I think you're right Nickizzy, they probably would have retested for sure.  Starting to relax a little and looking forward to the next ultrasound.  Will definitely keep everyone posted.

Ok, well your dates could be way off!!  Try not to worry to much.

The levels are an estimate and I Soyuz worry to much my best friend just found out she at 5 weeks pregnant and her levels were 760 and doubled when they re tested 2 days later and said she is fine. She's now 6 and a half weeks they did an ultrasound and the sac and little fetus was there and fine and they said they will do another ultrasound at 8 weeks to hear heartbeat. So 8000 is a very nice number and if they were worried they would have tested it again in 48 hrs to see if it was doubling like it should. Congrats mumma to be

Natural and quite a surprise!  We weren't really trying.  My next ultrasound is next Thurs.  I was never very sick with my daughter so maybe my levels run lower, idk.

First off, welcome!  2nd- CONGRATS!!!  
Is this a natural pregnancy?  If so, your dates can be off.  Did they do an ultrasound?
I know this time can be so scary, try to hang in there.
