HCG level

I hope someone can help me.

I'm 29yo I'm 5weeks pregnant 4days.  I found out I was pregnant in my doctor's office so they did a hcg level. My first level was 3,000 two days later 4,000. My doctor called me and said I need to get a Ultra sound that day.  On US they seen a small sac with no yolk and they seem to be making a big deal out of my Ovarian Cysts which I guess is a little bigger than it should be. She drew another HCG which was only one day apart from my 4,000 and it was 4,920. My doctor thinks it's an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage and wanted to do a D&C that day. Has anyone had anything like this happen? Also my progesterone level was around 11.

I guess with a ectopic pregnancy a pseudosac can be seen in the uterus some times but my sac is growing and I asked her if a pseudosac can grow and she said not usually.

thats why I said at around 5wk 4days , my previous post explains that it is not always visable by then and depends when you ovulated in this cycle :) I still think its really weird how she is still going on about eptopic as they have seen a sack in your uterus, if it were eptopic a sack would have been seen in your tubes not uterus

Thank you ladies. I tried to have her do my US later but she still seems concerned of the ectopic to wait more than four days.  I really hope there is a baby visiable Tuesday I don't know if I can take anymore of this waiting.

Not necessarily. My ultrasound at 5w4d only showed the sac as well, and i'm now 9w5d with healthy twins that both have a strong heartbeat.

I highly doubt this is ectopic, since you do show the sac in your uterus. Other than that, just try not to stress until you find something out for certain. Hugs and prayers to you, mama.

Vag US today showed my sac had grew and shows I'm around 5 weeks with that sac size but no yolk so they can't rule out ectopic yet so they are having me go for another US Tuesday. My hcg level is now 8300 but that's in 3 and a half days which they are still concerned about but my progresterone level is 17 now!

I wouldnt rush into anything after this next u/s either you really should have at leats a week inbetween them, hopfully this one will show some growth though, as I said, it would be highly unlikey for you to have an eptopic if they have seen something in your uterus already, as well as bleeding eptopic pregnancies have pain to the side that the egg has implanted in the tube as well, especially now that you will be getting close to the 6 wk mark

It was a Vaginal US. I'm getting another one tomorrow which is only 4 days from my last. I'm just hoping the yolk can be seen so i can stop worrying about the ectopic thing. Thank you for the help. I'm not given up hope yet but I know it's not looking good.

at around 5 wks you will only see a sack, at around 5wk 4 days a yolk sack should be visable, but thats only approx, your dates maybe off by one or two days so a yolk sack wont be seen, it doesnt sound to me like an eptopic as you wouldnt have seen anything in your uterus, and is generally acompanied by spotting or bleeding, I wouldnt rush into a d&c yet, you should have a follow up u/s either in 1 or 2 weeks time to see if there has been any growth at all, did they do an abdominal u/s or vaginal or both?, your hcg levels are rising very well considering that they only have to rise by a minimum of 60% in 3 days, your progesterone seems a little on the low side and I would be more worried about that at this point in time, the only other thing that springs to mind if its not a viable pregnancy would be a partial molar pregnancy or a blighted ovum, but def get another u/s in a week (minimum)

I suffered an ectopic pregnancy in October '11. I had very slight spotting, only very light pink and only when I wiped, none on my underwear. My ultrasound showed absolutely nothing, and my hcg levels were not doubling either. I ended up having to have two doses of methotrexate at the hospital as a result, but was able to avoid surgery.

Also I have no pain or bleeing at all.
