Had my tubes tied aged 25, problems ever since...

Hi, I had my tubes tied during my last c-section, having my 3rd child. My baby is now 14 months old and I am still bleeding 20 days of every month. I can't loose weight. My hormones are all over the place. I get very depressed. I honestly wish I had never agreed to having my tubes tied. I was pushed into it by a male consultant, while the female doctors were not encouraging me to have it done at all. On the day of my c-section I told my husband I didn't want it done but he persuaded me to have it done! So I'm angry with him because I am suffering now...

Thank you so much for your kind response. It is great to speak to someone who has been through it. I think I feel really sad that I can't have any more kids more than the fact that my periods are erratic... I'm considering one day having a tubal reversal...just in case I want more babies in the future?...Did you ever consider this? or know anyone that has had it done?...thanks

PS And thanks Sally for your response too

I had my tubes tied when I was 26.  My adult daughter also had her tubes tied after her third baby, when she was 24.  Both of us had heavier than normal periods after that time.

I do not know the answer to the heavier periods.  The majority of people that I know that had their tubes tied, all say that their periods are now heavier.  It seems to take some time for your body to settle back down, as was in my daughter's case, before you may see a change in your periods.
Best to see a doctor to check your hormone levels.  I really think that you are suffering from some depression, too, which is not your fault.  You are angry and I certainly can't blame you.

I do understand your "anger" over having your tubes tied, when it was not in your heart not to have it done.  Please forgive me when I say, that if your hubby didn't want anymore kids, he should have had a vasectomy.  Tubal ligation seems to be much harder on women.  I still recommend that you discuss all of the problems you are feeling, with you doctor.  You do not have to go through heavy or long periods every month.  There is help for that.  Please call your doctor and set up an appointment.

I am so sorry that you are having these issues.  I totally understand what it feels like.  If you feel the need to talk, please contact me through a MedHelp message.  I'm a good listener.

Now call your doctor, okay dearheart?

All the best,
Heather

Hello,

sorry you are regretting having your tubes tied.

However, having your tubes tied doesn't affect your hormones.  There must be something else going on. You need to be thoroughly checked for hormone issues.

Particularly you should have your thyroid checked as this can both make you depressed, unable to lose weight, mess up your cycles etc.

Please don't just accept how you feel, this is not due to the tubes being tied.  You need to follow this up.
