I recently took part in FSH testing. On the 3rd day of my period my FSH level was 8...after taking the clomid challenge my FSH level was 30 on day 10. I went from feeling very hopefull with an 8 and devastated to a level 30. I am 42 years old and still have very regularRegular insulin periods...I am not aware of any menopausal side effects. I am now wondering what my chances of conceiving and delivering a healthy baby with IVF. Will I even be a candidate for IVF?
I never had the clomid challenge test done, so I'm not sure what's a normal FSH on day 10...but an 8 on day 3 is very good for your age! Did your doctor indicate the ideal level for day 10 during the clomid challenge test? Also, did they check your antral follicle count on day 3 (the number of resting follicles in your ovaries)?
I'm the same as Heather5, I never did the Clomid challenge test, and not sure what the reading on day 10 means...My periods were short, irregular, I wasn't ovulating and my day 3 reading was 12....All i needed was Clomid and a laparoscpy and I fell pregnant. (age 35 )..Your day 3 reading is still good, so don't give up hope just yet...I can't see why you wouldn't be a candidate for IVF either...
Good luck
Thanks to both of you for some positive thoughts for my sake! I am actually going to consult with my MD tomorrow for a thorough explanation on my fertility status. The information posted above was relayed to my by his nurse over the phone. She was also very positive about the FSH 8 reading on day 3 but not so much on day 10. Hopefully I will understand more after tomorrow's visit. I will post my information once I receive it. Wish me luck and prayers...I will also ask about the resting follicles in my ovaries - I am not sure if that was part of this test. Thanks again!
good luck tomorrow. i'm going thru the same thing right now. my fsh was 6 on day 3. i'm 37 and have unexplained infertility. every lab, hsg, u/s.....all normal. i start my first dose of clomid tomorrow. i'll be praying for you.
Good luck
;-)
