Oh Hannah, it seems you just keep having all the fun stuff of pregnancy. Don't worry, everything will be just fine. I took my 1 hr test Tues. and they didn't give me the results, but I suspect I will be going back for the 3 hour (this one is a real pain). I was told to fast for the 1 hr and I am surprised they didn't have you do that. My doc has been having me test my sugar at home for weeks and I have been doing some reading, your number isn't that bad. My fasting numbers are usually 100 to 114, and two hours after I eat (depending on what I eat) they range from 130 to 150. My doctor says that is not normal, but not high enough to worry about at this point.
If you don't "pass" the 3 hour, and your numbers are still in that range you will be able to control any problems with diet probably. They will send you to a dietician, and give you tips on how to eat. The key is low carb (no sugar, sorry), and eating several small meals during the day. That is what I have been trying to do, and it seems to be working (so far). Don't worry, your little one will be just fine. :)
Yes definitely relax - my 1h test was 174 - not even borderline. I did the three hour test and passed with flying colors!! I was worried too but I guess it happens all the time. My problem was that they said I didn't need to fast for the 1h test so of course I didn't and had a piece of toast for breakfast (dumb, dumb - all carbs!) then went straight to the test before work. So I think that is why it was high(the toast). I fasted appropriately for the 3h test and everything was fine! They should warn us to eat low carb on the day of the 1h test!! Best of luck - everything will most likely be fine!!!
Hannah,
Dont panic!... I had my test come back high with my first baby and the 3 hr was normal!!!! this happens alot! no need to panic. Even if the second were to be elevated most of the time it can be controled with diet! You will be just fine =)

Hi Hannah,
My sister also had gestational diabetes with 3 of her pregnancies. She was able to control it with diet each time and each time she delivered very healthy babys. Halle Berry is diabetic, takes insulin and in her 40's and her pregnancy seems to be doing just fine. Try not to worry. You are an incredibly positive person and I know it'll all be great for you and your baby.
My sister had gestational diabetes with her baby. She had to really watch her diet while pregnant, and baby was born fine. The GD went away after birth. Good luck.
Hannah,
I just did my test this morning. I will let you know my results when I get them. I'm kind of nervous cause I do have some sugar issues. Try not to stress out, the 3 hour one will be more accurate.
I did mine 1st thing in the am.....I cant fast
I couldnt get to my DR office early enough to make it to school in time so they sent me to a lab and they usually open at 7AM....just a thought. FASTING S@CKS
non stress test is a test were the monitor how many times your baby moves in a half an hour... they do an u/s to measure the amniotic fluid and you get to see your baby twice a week haha.... when you take insulin the baby can get distressed and they just want to make sure everything is ok... also the induced me b/c the doc said there is a high rate of still borns in the last 3 weeks when you are on insulin... I sure all will be ok....
I took my first 1 hr one at 12w to check early because of my history but it came back 118 which was fine I take my next at 28w I am sure I will have it as I have had it with two of my others... I am hoping I wont be insulin dependent this time because I am 100lbs lighter this time than last... but if I keep eating all of these sweets I just might be!!! :(
I'm 28wk1d.
Thanks for the reassurance. What is a non-stress tests?
Thanks.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I was borderline starting to panic and still feel on the verge of tears but your comments really are calming me down.
I tried to stay away from goddies the day of the test but the couple hours before the test I did snack on some Juice Plus Gummies. They are supposed to be like dietary supplements. It wasn't till the next day that I noticed 4g of carbs and 3g from sugar. I probably ate at least 4 of em. Maybe that affected the test.
I had been doing pretty good about staying away from sweets until halloween can and that set the sugar habit in motion. Thanks Giving didn't help. I have been eating a lot of sweets and I've always been heavy on the carbs. :( I'm really regretting that choice now.
Hannah,
try to relax my sister and friend both had to have the 3 hr test and they both came back A-OK it can depend on alot of different things....did you have to fast, was there enough time between the test and the YUMMY drink (that was my friends problem they took the blood too soon). good luck

My sister failed the 1st and 2nd tests, then passed the 3rd and 4th. They did a 4hr on her with betas on arrival then ea hr after that. She failed the 1hr. Everything was just fine :)
how many weeks are you? sorry to tell you it has happened to me twice and both times I had gestational diabetes.. one time diet controlled and the other insulin injections... but think of it this way you wont gain as much weight haha,... with the second because of the insulin they gave me an amnio at 37w to check on lung development and induced the next day... also from 28w on I had non stress tests twice a week... with the first diet controled they induced me on my due date.. first 7lbs3oz second 7lbs 6oz... both fine and healthy... good luck
Hannah, sorry to hear that! I'm sure that occasionally it turns out fine w/ the second test otherwise they wouldn't bother to do more than one. I had diabetes and high bp w/ my oldest but I dont' remember how all the test came back. Most of the time it can be controlled w/ diet even if you are diabetic. I hope the next one is fine but if not it's not the end of the world. Thank goodness they have testing to monitor that stuff! Good luck.
