How likely are false positives?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board.  I am 37 and have been married 19 years.  We have never used birth control and I have never been pregnant.  My last period was May 30th and for the past week and a half I have been sick to my stomach.  I took 2 pregnancy test on Saturday July 10th and 2 more on Sunday.  All 4 are positive.  I can't get in to see the doctor until July 27th.  I have read about false positives and am wondering after all these years am I really pregnant?  Do you think its safe to tell my mom before I get doctor confirmation?
Thank You
Kristal

The only time I have heard of false positives is with the blue dye test! Other than that I would say very very very rare!!!

Congrats, you sound very preggo to me!!!! Go to your doctor and have your bloodwork checked so you can make sure your HCG is rising!!! As for telling your mom are anyone else do it when you are ready!!

Congrats and happy 9 months!

Congrats on your pregnancy :-) Like adgal said HCG is a hormone produced during pregnancy. I would still confirm with bloodwork, but congrats.

I agree with RDH, false positives with blue dye can happen, but if you used pink dye tests or digital, it sounds to me like you are pregnant!!!  These tests respond to HCG in the urine, and the only time your body produces HCG is when you are pregnant.  The false positives with blue dye are not really false positives, but evaporation lines that can be quite dark.   I would say congratulations!!!!!!

Thank you very much for responding.  I feel much better.  Now if I can just keep myself calm for the next 2 weeks until I see the doctor.
