Hi. I was 1cm dilated on 12/31. I'll be checked again tomorrow & it just makes me curious to know how many cm dilated you have to be before you're admitted to the hospital. I also have another fetal fibronectin test. If that's positive, I'll be admitted anyway, but I'm curious about dilation. Thanks :)
I'm not sure if it by dilation, more by being in active labor. I think it can vary. I was at a 1 at my doc visit with my first. Then I went into labor that night and was a 6 by the time I got to the hospital. It wont be long now though! Good luck and congrats!
Thanks. My water hasn't broken yet. I'm only 29 weeks, but I'm having twins & have been in the hospital for threatened preterm labor. I've been home on bedrest for almost four weeks now. I'm interested to see how I'm doing tomorrow :) I know they'll keep me with or without contractions because they don't want the babies coming vaginally this early. I saw somewhere that there's a "magic number" when it comes to dilation that they'll keep you :) Maybe, like Prevatt mentioned, it depends on the hospital & circumstances. We'll see! ;)
Many hospitals differ but my OB office said 4cm is when they admit you if you are at or near your due date. Now for you being in pre-term I am not too sure.
Just remember my fetal fibrnectin test was positive for pre-term labor at 31 weeks and here I am at 36w4d and he has stayed put. I am now at 3cm and 50% effaced so I do not think it will be much longer. My contractions have also picked up so I will not be surprised at my visit on Monday if I am at least 4cm.
Quinnsmomma: That's interesting & good to hear that your FFN test was positive, yet you've made it 5-6 more weeks :) My main issue is a shortened cervix & so if my FFN is positive, I'll be hospitalized w/another round of steroids & then magnesium sulfate. Well, my appt's in the morning, so I'll have some answers then as to how things are going :) Thanks!
They talked about this tonight in my birthing class. Our hospital sends you home unless your 4cm. You are admitted at that point. I hope you don't have to do another hospital stay. Please let us know how it's going!!
