I think we listened on a doppler for the first time at about 12 weeks.
I know it's scary...but I just *know* you have nothing to worry about. I had an awful lot of spotting and bleeding throughout the whole first trimester. Every time we had sex, every exam, every bowel movement or if I exercised more than normal...seemed I was constantly spotting. I kind of got used to it and wore a panty liner every day. It gets less and less scary. And, girl, you are TEN WEEKS!!! That's a big deal! {{{AMANDA}}}
I would imagine you're not excercising (since I think I remember you were trying to take it easy) but the additional time I had spotting around 9, 10 weeks I had just gotten off the treadmill.
I really hope that your spotting stops at some point cause I think it's going to drive you crazy and it would be nice if you get to enjoy some part of your pregnancy without all the worrying.
don't put too much expectations on the Doppler to reassure you... I had to wait until week 15 or 16 before hearing the HB of my baby... so that was disapointing and I was freaked out at times...
Funny thing is I am not panicked at all this time. Mildly concerned of course, but having seen that 9 week ultrasound and everything being so perfect is really reassuring for me. I have read so much information on line about how a strong fetal heartbeat at that stage really decreases your odds of miscarrying. Also, all the stories from you ladies of bleeding and spotting where everything was just fine really reassures me. The more reading I do on first trimester bleeding/spotting, the more reasons I find it could happen, and only one of them is bad. Plus, I am really having strong symptoms...finding it difficult to sleep on my tummy, which is my normal way of sleeping because bb's hurt all the time now. I don't really vomit, but nausea comes and goes all day, and it's pretty much every day now. My tummy has also popped out a bit...actually quite a bit...lol. I have a visible baby bump, and today need to go shopping for new bra's....mine don't seem to fit anymore. I have a lot of funny sensations in my abdomen..kind of like a pulling sensation, so that leads me to believe baby is growing in there. I wish I could feel him/her moving, but I know thats still several weeks away.
One of our prenatal nurses at work is going to teach me how to use the doppler. I am hoping I will get lucky and will hear something at the 10 to 11 week mark. If not, I have my NT at 12 weeks, 3 days (July 22nd), so I can see my baby again then. If I was a wealthy women, I am pretty sure I would now own my own ultrasound equipment....lol. Anyway, one day at a time, and every day takes me closer to being out of that danger zone. Also, 10 weeks is a huge milestone...stats say your risk drops again at that point. It's all good, but still, the spotting makes me a bit nutty!! Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I do love hearing about others experiences, it is really calming for me. XO Amanda
Oh Amanda, can you ever have just a boring day?????? I am sorry the spotting is back, but I am glad to hear you are not freaking out. I really think that you are going to be one of those "strange" people that just have some kind of bleeding during pregnancy. Think about how much reassurance you will be able to give others later on!!!!
As for the doppler I really hope it brings you some peace and not stress. I just have heard so many stories about them and I can seem to tell if they are worth it. I really hope that you are one of the ones that have great luck with it!!!!!
Yay, 10 weeks going strong and overall not to crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my doppler at 9 weeks. The first time I tried I could not find the hb but by 10 weeks I could find it easily. It really helped me - just don't panic if you can't find it right away. Keep trying and you will find it!
My sister had spotting her entire pregnancy with my nephew and he turned out fine and her pregnancy had no complications except for the spotting. I think you can relax and enjoy the ride from here on out!! I don't think this is anything to be too concerned about - it just happens with some pregnancies! 10 weeks - how exciting!!! You are almost in your 2nd trimester!! Yippee!!!
Amanda,
I am so sorry this is happening again. I was in the same shoes, as you may remember. The bleeding/spotting came and went till I was about 16 weeks. I know how mentally distressing it is. I wish you did not thave to go through this.
Many hugs,
Helen
I wish this spotting and bleeding would quit teasing us! Everytime I think mine has stopped it starts back up to. But hey, we are 10 weeks now! That has to be a good thing. Just keep doing what you are doing, I think it is working. And remember what the Dr you wrote said. It could be so many things that are not serious at all. I know it is hard and it is scary, but just remember your baby is growing stronger everyday and your chances of having a healthy baby is going up everyday. I'm here w/ ya girley, spotting all the way!
I got mine at 11 weeks and the first day I found the HB easliy, then on and off for the next two weeks once I hit the 13th week mark even my 16 year old daughter could find it, but I did freack out alot in the first week when it would take for ever to find it, but after I did find it the freak out was worth it because I could hear my babys heart beating away and it was all worth it, Hope you hear a nice strong beat first thing and that that sound brings you much joy and comfort, huggs Julia
Amanda, as the others have said, it's good to read that you're not panicking although I know how stressful it all is. For that reason, I wish it would just stop!
Did I tell you my husband got me a doppler from a midwife he knows professionally & then didn't give it to me to use? I found it at our pharmacy when No-No was a year old - he's in the dog house!
What?? Did he just forget to give it to you, or was he worried it would stress you out? I know Warren is not convinced this is the best idea, at least until later on. He worries that if I don't find the heartbeat it will throw me into a panic. I had to promise I wouldn't do that..lol. Oh, if it came and he hid it from me there would be big big trouble!!!
with taylor I used a friends doppler at about 10-12 weeks, and it took me about 1/2 and hour to find it, but I knew I'd be freaked out if I didn't- even though I knew it could be too early.... I was persistant! :) So when I got to my doc the next week he was trying to prep me that it might be too early to find the hb, and I told him I had already heard it, then he was determined to find it too! :) but he found it much easier then I did!
I used the doppler during my pg this time and mine 6 years ago.. it brought me so much peace before I could feel the baby moving.. I would use it 3 or 4 times a day.. Be careful though sometimes it is very hard to find a hearbeat even when you are 14 w... you have to put plenty of gel ( you can use any gelly stuff like aloe vera so you don´t spend a bunch a money.. it doesn´t have to be the stuff they sell you) go below your belly button and move slowly across all the area until you find where your little baby is hiding. I rented mine and I thought I would give it back after the baby started moving but I found I loved it to hear hiccups, and movements and when the baby wasn´t moving for a while I just wanted to check on her..
the best idea I have heard on here is that one person recorded the h/b and then went to build a bear and one of the things you can put in the bear is a recording of you saying something, well instead of that she recorded the babies h/b and then made the bear... now her baby had a teddy bear and when she pushes the button she hears her very own h/b when she was in her mothers womb... that is just toooooo special!! I wish I would have done that...
Amanda, I don't know why Wade didn't give me the thing - I was so mad at him! He said that after a while he didn't think I needed it because I wasn't talking so much about it. I thought it was because he was against the idea - that's why I stopped talking about it - I thought it was useless. Oh boy......
