I feel like I am well, leaking?

This is a bit of TMI, so sorry ladies.  I feel wet all the time.  There is no bleeding or spotting, but on my panty liner, the discharge is sort of darkish.  But it's wet, like urine...I am not sure how to describe it.  It's the strangest feeling.  Plus my urine is back to that really dark colour again.  I know I am not dehydrated, I drink a tonne of water every day.  No discomfort or burning sensation, so I don't think its an infection. Any ideas?  I'm not really concerned, just curious.

Also, second question....if all goes well tomorrow at my ultrasound I would like to rent a doppler.  DH is on the fence about the idea as he worries that if I don't use it right and can't find the heartbeat I will lose it, if you know what I mean. What are your opinions on this....knowing how anxious I am about this pregnancy, should I or shouldn't I?  I love the idea of being able to hear that heartbeat whenever I want.  It must be incredibly reassuring. As always, I appreciate any responses and input.  Thanks all.

Ok, the dark urine is from your hormones. I drink water all day long and have the same thing. The wetness I have as well. Not realy sure what it is, just hoping that my bladder hasn't started leaking already....LOL .

I rented a doppler but sent it home w/ a friend for now. I'm still too early and can't find the HB yet. They say you should wait until you are at least 10 weeks, so 1 more week. I plan on taking it to my next Dr apt and asking her to show me how to use it, so I know what I am doing. I'm sure she won't mind. If you decide to rent one, you might do the same. I think once I can hear the HB anytime, I will calm down alot more and start to actualy enjoy my pregnancy.

The leaking, wetness is normal - blah! Somedays are worse than others.....what I was wondering (if someone else knows) is whether the increase in discharge is related to creating the mucus plug??

When I was at my 10 or 12 week appt the ob said that sometimes she could find the heartbeat right away and sometimes she couldn't. Sooooooo...... for the first few weeks it might be a bit hit and miss (so you should try not to lose it if you can't find hb) I guess they move around a lot.

I had looked into it and I think it would have to be done online (In BC not sure about AB).

Good Luck with your ultrasound Monday,
J

Hi sweetie, the discharge is normal and it's called leukorrhea...although you said it's kind of darkish, leukorrhea is usually clear, white and odor free, so maybe I'm wrong.  You mentioned the dark urine...could that by chance be from your prenatals and iron pills, because my prenatals cause my urine to be dark yellow.  The doppler idea, well as you know, I bought one with this pregnancy, and it was one of the best things I ever bought.  So, yes I would get one, but remember, you may not hear anything til your 10th or 11th week, so don't panic if you can't find or hear the heartbeat yet, ok??  Promise??  XO  Pam

I had periods of wetness as well.  It's totally normal.  Try panty liners.
Good luck on your u/s tomorrow!!!!

The discharge is probably normal.. it is very common to have increased dishcarge.. I feel very wet myself these days... If it becomes straight up watery.. not creamy or lotiony or milky but really like water... then you should be concerned..

As for the doppler.. I really dont think they are good idea.. it think it can cause over obessing... often in dr office they have a hard time finding the hb with the doppler and I would worry it would cause extra stress.. just my opinion tho..

I still have days were I feel very wet. I hate it! Scott gets a good giggle out of thinking I am peeing myself!!!!!! I have to wear a pantyliner all day.  I agree with Pam about your urine changing colors do to your prenatals. Those things can do some serious craziness to our bodies along with all the raging hormones.

As for the doppler I have mixed emotions about those. I wanted one really bad but Scott refused he said I would drive myself insane and he is probably right!!!! I know the feeling of wanting to be reassured everyday, but I was too afraid that it might actually cause me more stress.  Once Amanda Jr. starts moving around all the time you will have all the reassurance you need. I know that seems like forever.......because in pregnancy world it is forever!!!! You better just pinky swear not to go crazy if you do get a doppler!!!!!!

Can't wait to hear about tomorrow!

THanks so much for all the responses...you ladies are the best!  Sometimes the discharge is creamy, and then it's usually white/cloudy.  But sometimes it is like water, only dark coloured.  No smell though.  I worried it might be amniotic fluid, but at 9 weeks it would be too early for that wouldn't it?  It leaves a wide stain (ok, tmi again) on my pantyliner, tinged kinda dark.  Not brown like old blood or anything, and certainly not red, just dark....could my bladder be leaking a bit?  I don't see my OB again until the 21st unless something is not right tomorrow.  (The ultrasound clinic is not in her office's).

I think I will go ahead and get the doppler.  But I really like the idea of getting my OB to show me how to use it....I'm going to ask her.  There is a local place I can get it and it's only $60/month.  As I suspect I won't be having another pregnancy, I don't think I will buy one...we'll see.

Thanks for the info.  Have a lovely sunday all.

Amanda...I have had so much discharge during this pregnancy, it's annoying. Starting from the very beginning I had the wet discharge like you describe. I have used more panty liners and pads in the last 8 months than I have in the last 8 years! LOL. As the baby has gotten  bigger, I have begun to leak more urine...I discovered that Poise pantyliners actually work way better than menstrual pads - I think they must be made out of different material. Anyway...nothing to worry about!

The doppler could go either way - put your mind at ease, or make you insane. LOL. Whatever you decide, I'm sure things will be great!

You are the cutest pregnant woman ever : ) The discharge is very normal. Wait until your second trimester where for me anyway, it got much worse! Sometimes I felt like I actually wet my pants so panty liners were a staple in our house LOL!

Regarding the doppler, whatever you do, don't buy one of those BeBe Sounds ones. They don't work at all from my experience and others I have talked to as well. Also, check out eBay, There are always some of the hospital grade ones for sale there for less than $100.

Let us know what you do. I wish I would have bought one with my first pregnancy!

Amanda,
Please do not spend $60/month on a Doppler.  I purchased one online for $100.  Advertised online are all sorts of dopplers that appear to be high tech, but the only thing you need is a simple doppler that you can hear the heartbeat and see the fetal heart rate on the display screen.  $60/month to rent one is entirely too expensive and a waste.  They all work the same. Plus you can have your own for future pregnancies instead of having to return a borrowed one.  Save up that extra cash for your baby! Go to www.semedicalsupply.com. Or google Southeastern Medical Supply. See if they ships items to Canada.

Secondly, it is entirely too early in the game for you to be leaking urine unless you already had bladder issues prior to pregnancy.  Normally my patients leak urine when they are well into their second trimester and third trimesters because their baby is growing and allowing more pressure to be applied on the bladder.  They always come in thinking it is amniotic fluid ("their water bag").  Which is ok, because it is better to be safe than sorry.  Anyway, the "leaking", probably better described as moisture, you are most likely experiencing is leukorrhea.  But as Pam mentioned in her post, leukorrhea discharge is colorless, white/light yellow and ALWAYS odorless.  Anytime your discharge has an odor, you know this denotes infection. Leukorrhea is a natural defense mechanism the vagina uses to maintain its chemical balance.  It also varies as your hormone levels change.  If you buy the Doppler please learn how to use it properly and know that you will not find the heartbeat in the same spot each time especially due to your early gestational age.  Also, if you have alot of adipose tissue (fat tissue) around your belly it is difficult to find the heartbeat too.  Bring your doppler to your OBs office and get a good lesson or ask your OB to show you how to use hers.  They all work the same way.  Please do not drive you and Warren crazy with that Doppler Sweetie.  Everything will be ok.  When you start to feel that baby move that will be all the reassurance you need.
Take care,
Ungelica

Oh, the Doppler I purchased from the site listed in my above post is called: Sonotrax B, which is now called SonoLine B on that same site.

I rented a doppler from babybeatdotcom.  It worked great.  Once you figure out how to find the HB you get really good at it.  I could find it way faster than my OB any day!!  To me, it was a Godsend during my pregnancy with Isabelle.  I didn't use it daily or anything like that but when I was worried, didn't feel she was moving, had cramps or any other weird feeling I would just listen to her heartbeat for a few seconds and know everything was OK.  It was great and I had a wonderful experience with it.  I did have a hard time finding the HB the first week but then found it very easy to find after that.
Best of luck - the worrying never ends though - not even after the birth!!! :)

Amanda, I don't know if it's a bit late to mention this but I've had the exact same watery discharge.  I was quite worried, particularly as I'd read up on leukorrhea and that didn't seem to be what I had.  Instead it was literally like a tiny amount of pee! Like you, I thought perhaps it could be amniotic fluid.
It went away for a little while after I stopped the progesterone inserts but maybe that was just in my head because it's been back for a while now and I'm starting to wonder if it was ever gone!!

There are places on line that are a lot less then $60 a month for those dopplers-  I rented one with both of my pregnancies-  I wasn't going to with my first, but my dad died when I was 20 weeks or so, and I had to travel, and the strain of the funeral, etc, I thought it would be best to get one-  I loved having it,  I'd listen everyday, just because I loved hearing her heartbeat-  so with my second I got one because I knew how much I loved it-  it did take a while some days to find the HB, and others I'd find it right away-  someday I'd take a break and 1/2 an hour later come back to find it...   but check around online-  I think I only did around $25 a month...

I am praying for your ultrasound today too...   by the sounds of it, what you experienced is somewhat common....  so I wouldn't worry about it too much!  hugs....

First of all drink more water.  I think the color you are talking about is a darkish yellow or orangish tinge...maybe not, but that's what I've noticed if I dont' drink enough water.  And I think it's pretty common that the action you are seeing is fairly similar to Niagra falls!!  Leaky, leaky, leaky.   Right now it's terrible for me....at night I wake up and i'm soaked sometimes.   It's like I wet my pants or something.   It seems like I have to change my underwear 2 or 3 times a day.   Sometimes you don't realize your bladder just leaks or it's other lovely female fluids attributing to the problem.  In any case don't worry about it.
