Just an update. I went back to my old shampoo and conditioner and my hair stopped falling out. Maybe my hormone levels evened out or maybe it was the shampoo I was using. It's such a relief not to have gobs of hair coming out anymore!
Hi All!
Remember that for new hair to grow in, old hair has to fall out first! Falling hair is distressing (just noticed the word, "dis-tressing" - ho ho), but it's a common reaction to hormone fluctuations. It won't grow back grey unless you were destined to start greying anyway. My hair began turning white when I was 28, many years before I considered becoming a mom. Miss Clairol to the rescue!
My dh has been complaining that my hair is falling out more than usual. I'm not thinning yet and my thyroid level has been checked, so I'm assuming it's just yet another symptom. Strangely, at the same time I'm growing new hair and my nails also grow a mile a minute.
Saw the midwife and she said hair loss is not common at 7 weeks pregnant usually it occurs at the end of pregnancy or afterwards. She said my thyroid levels were normal.
I'll be calling my regular doctor about it and let you all know what she says.
I'm losing alot of hair still, I went back to my old shampoo and it seems like less is falling out. I'm bummed, worried, and convinced that all the dark hair I lost willl grow back gray. Since I'm finding gray hairs every now and then.
Oh gosh you all are scaring me. My hair has been growing and nails are growing like crazy. What do I have to look forward to once I deliver???? YIKES.
with my 2 other children and pregnancies my hair started to fall out about 4 months after giving birth....last one was pretty bad...receading hair line...i got pregnant again less then a year of giving birth...and my hair has totally thinned out and receading again...i want to cry when i am in the shower sometimes.....i feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My hair was the same way, that is one of the reason why I didn't color or hi-light my hair when I was pregnant; I was to afraid it would all fall out.
My hair also falls out a lot because I'm breastfeeding too, Gavin is 8 months and I'll be bald by the time I stop nursing him :)
