Isn't 5 months early for birthing classes?

I just called my hospital and asked about the classes just in case I needed to register early to get in and she wanted me to start this Tuesday......Is it because I'm having twins she's wanting me to go early?

Where I went you could register for the classes anytime after 5 months.  When I went to the class almost everyone in there was just about to pop.

5 months is probably a little early but I don't like putting things off till the last minute.  I think I went at around 7 months.

Just found out a friend of a friend just had her twins. They were 4 weeks early. She had a vaginal delivery, but her doctor had her deliver in the c-section room, just case. Everything went fine!  Boy was 6 pounds, girl was 5 pounds.

I didn't take the classes when I was preg. before. Mainly cause I was due April 30th (had her May 7th) and I didn't want to have to drive in the snow, especially after dark(it's around 10miles away) and my DH doesn't get off of work at a consistent time.My FIL offered to go with me but that would have been kinda weird. There's no way he would have made it in the delivery room! He left the house if I was breastfeeding! Not just the room the HOUSE! The breast feeding classes were helpful! I'm sure all the class are really, I think anyone is more confident if they are informed and at least know a lil of what to expect. I really didn't feel like the nurses were very supportive with the breast feeding, They kept asking if I wanted them to give her formula, or a pacifier, So I was really glad I had taken the class........Here we are aloud 2 people in the birthing room. I'll have my mom and dh again I feel a lil bad, like I should have my MIL she only has the 2 sons so she never got to have the exprience but I don't know.... What are you girls gonna do??

I might see about doing them sooner then too......they have a breastfeeding for multiples class here too.....

I plan on having them naturally as possible no epidural if I can have them vag.  but my DR said I have a 70% chance of a c-section

Oh yes, I would think I would be doing the breastfeeding classes sooner as well. They both go hand in hand, and to be honest, IMHO, I think the BF classes are more important!

go before you are too uncomfortable to get on the floor and do them lol.  are you going to try to have them natural or does your dr decide right away to do a c? there are several types of birthing strategies or techniques.

I'm pretty sure Jeff will be very helpful with the babies....and he'll go I'm sure of it he doesn't miss any of my appts unless it's just a have to thing.

I wonder if I should reschedule my breastfeeding classes too?  They aren't til June

I would say take him if he wants to go. Scott wants to go and this being my 3rd baby, I don't see it as necessary but he definitely wants to go. Some guys would greatly benefit from the experience! My opinion is.. they don't do as much as women do with babies, and often times get nervous and just don't know what to do.. but if they go to these classes things may *stick with them* for future reference!

They sometimes do an *introductory opening* but it'll be just fine when you say you are pregnant with twins, everyone will understand why you are there!

I guess that makes sence but I'm gonna feel silly if I'm the only one so early.....LOL but heck I don't have to tell the other women I'm big enough I could just blend in.

I think they just want you to get the classes over with in case you may be put on bed rest or something and can't get out to get to the classes.
