Late period but negative pregnancy test

by Iwannaknow30, Apr 30, 2009 08:09PM
My cycle is usually 28 days. I am now four days late, but two home pregnancy tests that I took were negative. What could be affecting my cycle? I am taking Prednisone for hives, but I read that it is rare for Prednisone to affect your cycle. Any ideas? I really am hoping that I'm not pregnant, and now I'm freaking out because my period is late! Could two pregnancy tests be wrong?

Well, pregnancy tests can give false negatives, however, once you have missed your period you they are usually very accurate.  I would bet you are not pregnant.  There are so many things that can affect your cycle, from stress to medications to a medical condition.  And even for us very regular women, sometimes it just happens. Your best bet is to consult your Dr.  Good luck to you.
