Hey ladies...
I need to know what to expect when I have my tubes tied (what exactly will they do?) and about how long can I expect to be in the bed. Chancellor is only 10days old today but I'm going to schedule the appointment for my tubalEctopic pregnancy Gynecologic laparoscopy Tubal ligation Tubal ligation - series and I need to know if my hubby needs to take any days off. I've had Lap surgery before where they went through my belly button so I'm wondering is it the same thing? It took me about a week to get back on my feet from that surgery so should I plan on being bed-ridden for that long?
I don't know what to expect, but I have been tossing around the inda also....I am due to deliver in 7wks and it will be a scheduled c-section, so my doc said he could tie them when he does the c/s.....this will be our 5th baby, but I don't know if I really want to tie my tubes....I wish my DH would just man-up and get snipped....I mean, I went through all the labor pains, so it's the least he can do
Are you certain that you don't want to try for that baby girl? That is my main hesitation, what if I decide I want 1 more.....It is easier for DH to get reversed than it would be for me....I don't know, I need to think about it some more....Good luck to you though.....and congratulations on your baby, he is so handsome
mrs5077- It's more successful for a woman to have a reversal then it is a man but it's cheaper for the mans reversal. Not as painful for a man to be clipped but the failing rate is a bit higher! I would say it's better for the woman to have it done, but if there is a chance you would want more children definitely don't have it done, because it's expensive!!! I paid around $7000.00 March of 07!
Agree with pcarsey... had mine tied/burned in 93. Divorced and remarried in 2000. Had mine "hooked" back together in 2006 and paid 7 grand.. Please double triple and even quadruple think the tubal choice. I was laid up i think only for a few days if i recall right for the tying, however the untying required extra repair and WOW it was a long six weeks.. and 4 m/c later.. but good news is the surgery worked and at the very least i am able to get pregnant.. .. good luck with your decisions..
Wow, now I'm kinda nervous about it. I had such a rough pregnancy and was determined not to go back through that, but as I sit here and watch this little guy sleep and adapt to his surroundings I'm so in love. I'm 29 and I want to concentrate on finishing school and starting a new career and be a good mother to the three boys I have. This whole situation is making me think way into the future and its causing me a little stress. I have to keep reminding myself that the good Lord said give us "this" day our daily bread, he sure as heck didnt say anything about tomorrow and the day after that. So I guess I better make sure a tubal is what I truly want before I end up having regrets! Thanks
i had mine done when i had my last son, i never regerted it, but i only wanted to, its hard to raise to many these days, cost a lot, but i think two is a great number , if you have problems than do whats best for you and your family, theres always adoption and pets lol. maybe its also to early to make thaty decission , wait awhile let him get a little older and see if your wanting that sweet small baby again. your young you have time.
Here's my advice for what it's worth...get an IUD. I had one and it was fabulous and lasts for 5 or 10 years depending on what way you choose to go. A tubal is permanent (well pretty permanent, that is). You may know "without a doubt" that you're done but as you said, our Good Lord knows for sure.
We thought we were done 7 years ago and decided one year ago we wanted one more...and now we have Little Christopher. If you would have told me 7 years ago with the birth of our last that I'd have another I would have laughed given that I could have died in my last pregnancy.
Now that I'm 40 I KNOW this was our last nnd knew it all throughout the pregnancy, during birth and was SO ready for the tubal. I was "done" and my heart and soul knew it, too. I have no regrets about the tubal and have a beauty angel baby that makes me so happy I didn't get the tubal 7 years ago when we first thought about it.
You're young. My vote is to not do anything permanent until you're a bit older or until your heart and soul gives you that totally certain, "I'm done" message. You don't want regrets down the road of a reversal doesn't work.
I too had a tubal done during a c-section - I know you've had a lot of problems w/your pregnancy but be sure that's what you want no more children. After my tubal, I got remarried and then my dh & I wanted a child together and that's when the 'fun' began.

When I had my tubes tied 10 years ago they did it lap style with me and I was healed up in a few days. I think the worst is the gas that escapes from your shoulders (try a hot shower if you are allowed)!! I was.. just no baths. I would think your DH should maybe take a couple days off because you shouldn't be lifting anything for a couple days. *unless things have changed in 10 years*.
