I lost a baby at 17 weeks after the 12 week ultrasound seemed fine. And just days after I felt the baby's first kick. We found out the baby had a chromosomal defect and would have never made it full term. Most chromosomal defects cause miscarriage by 20 weeks.
I am sorry for your loss and shock. I would never want anyone else to go through what I had to. I did not have a D&C though. My doctor gave me Cytotec prescription which helped the body complete the miscarriage on its own. It was a very difficult emotional road at the time, but we made it through eventually and now have a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Hang in there!
That's the same question I have now. Why? I had no indications of a miscarriage either, so the news that our baby had just died was shocking. How do you get to the end of your first trimester when you're supposed to be out of the woods and then everything fails? I've been asking if anyones know's anything about placenta failure and possible a progesterone problem. How are you recovering from your D&C?
Im very sorry you are going through this. hang in there
I also had a missed m/c it just happens..
I agree with nana. 50% of the time it is a defect that isn't compatible with life. The organs are formed during the first trimester. That transition from embryo to fetus is a tough one. It doesn't make it easier. I am so sorry for your loss.
Most of the time it has something to do with a chromosomal defect.
