Natural/Old Family Remedies???

I have this nagging cold that just won't go away. I think it's on its way out and the next day I wake up with different symptoms. Recently it's turned into a sore throat, bumps on the back of a swollen tongue, painful and irritating. Had a Dr. appt last week and its nothing serious, but I can't get rid if it and don't want antibiotics. Have been drinking garlic/lemon tea, rinsing with salt water, does anyone have any safe home remedies to try??

Try the vitamin C thing, ive heard it helps a lot. My husband and I aslo make tea out of fresh ginger, basil and some honey. Just crush the leaves, drop a chunk of ginger in and pour hot water over it and steep for 7-10 min. Its opens up your nasal passage and helps clear your head. Tastes good too. I hope you feel better :) im with you, i dont like taking antibiotics or medication either, especially while pregnant.

In my last pregnancy my Dr recommended a high dose of vitamin C for 2-3 days. 2000-3000mg each day to boost the immune system.I had a cold hang around for four months of pregnancy,  and it helped my body recover finally!  your body pees out what it can't absorb so it's safe, but don't do it for more than 4 days, you can end up with a sore tongue /mouth.
