Hello Ladies I went to the doctor this morning I am 6 weeks. We did not see a heartbeatHeart palpitations Ultrasound, normal fetus - heartbeat Ultrasound, ventricular septal defect - heartbeat I of course was and am upset. The doctor said not to be concerned that it was early. The lining of my uterus looks good and I have no cramping bleeding etc, all good signs he said. The "baby" is measuring at 6 weeks and 1 day. The doctor said I did not need repeated HCG checked because measurments were good and then again not to worry. Ha easy for him to say! I have to add my doctor is wonderful and has 3 IVF children himself. I go back on Monday for another ultrasound. I am going to go crazy waiting and most likely spend a fortune on pg tests. I have done 9 since I found out I was pg (yes crazy) especially since I knoe if you are going to miscarry the test can still pick up hormone. Hopefully this crazy behavior is part of being pg. Try not to worry too much - 6 weeks is still borderline/early. Good luck with your next u/s. ps. Dollarstore hpt tests are much easier on the pocketbook - pick up your stash there !
I agree with the other ladies. Usually, the earliest a HB will be detected is closer to 7 weeks (the heart beats a little earlier but it is extremely hard to pick up). I dont know why so many doctors perform US's so early because it often causes needless worry.
Hi. My first u/s at 5 weeks showed only a sac. We went back at 6 weeks hoping to see a heartbeat & did, but were also surprised by another sac. At 6 weeks, there was no heartbeat in the second sac. At 7 weeks, we saw two beautiful heartbeats :) It is early, so stay positive & I wish you my best! By the way, I drove my husband crazy testing twice every day! So, no, you're definitely not alone ;-)
